The other day, Great Lakes had the privilege of hosting a beautiful Quilts of Valor presentation for one of our residents, Chuck Johnson. ❤️🤍💙

The ceremony was a meaningful opportunity to honor Chuck for his service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. Chuck is a 20-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served in Vietnam and was wounded in combat.

As he was presented with his Quilt of Valor, family, friends, fellow residents, and staff gathered to recognize his courage and thank him for the sacrifices he made in service to our nation. It was a touching and memorable moment that reminded us all of the tremendous debt of gratitude we owe to our veterans.

Chuck, thank you for your service, your bravery, and your commitment to protecting the freedoms we enjoy today. We are honored to have you as part of the Great Lakes family. 💚

There’s always something fun stitching together at Great Lakes! 🧵💚

Our residents absolutely love the hobby clubs happening around campus—and quilting is one of the favorites! It’s the perfect place to create heartfelt gifts, work on meaningful projects, and share talents with others.

Of course, it’s also a wonderful space to socialize, catch up with friends, and enjoy plenty of laughter along the way. (A little friendly gossip never hurts either! 😉)

At Great Lakes, hobby clubs are about so much more than activities—they’re about creativity, connection, and community.

Early last week, Great Lakes took a trip back to the 1950s for an unforgettable Sock Hop party! 🎶🕺💚

Residents and members of the Holt community came together for an amazing evening filled with incredible music, delicious food, fun decorations, and plenty of nostalgia. From the classic 50’s-themed décor to the decked-out vintage Ford on display, every detail helped bring the era to life! 🚗✨

Guests enjoyed tasty root beer floats, great conversation, and a phenomenal live performance from the band Sea Cruisers, who absolutely rocked the night and kept the energy going all evening long. 🎸🎤

A huge thank you goes out to the Great Lakes staff for all their hard work preparing delicious food, serving treats, decorating, and making the entire event so special and memorable for everyone who attended. Your dedication helped make the night truly unforgettable! 💚

What a fun celebration of music, community, and good old-fashioned fun! 🎉
