For more than a decade, Sharon has been a dedicated member of our team, serving as a Patient Care Technician and helping patients through recovery with compassion and care. When years of knee pain eventually led to joint replacement surgery, she found herself on the other side of the patient experience. Under the care of Dr. Ihekweazu, board-certified joint replacement surgeon, and surrounded by the support of her colleagues, Sharon experienced firsthand the same exceptional care she helps provide every day.

From the encouragement of her coworkers to the expertise of her care team, Sharon gained a unique perspective on what it means to be both a caregiver and a patient. Her dedication to others recently earned her a BEE Award, recognizing the extraordinary impact she makes on patients, families and colleagues.

Today, she's back doing what she loves, helping patients on their path to recovery. Learn more about our joint care services: https://bit.ly/3VB7IpV

For many people with blood cancer or other serious blood disorders, a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant can offer hope — and it often starts with a donor.

According to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), most patients who need a transplant don’t have a fully matched donor in their family and rely on NMDP (formerly Be The Match) to help find one. NMDP ℠ is a global nonprofit leader in cell therapy that helps save the lives of patients with blood cancers and disorders.

As part of HCA Healthcare, we're proud to support this life-saving work through the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Network — one of the nation's leading providers of unrelated bone marrow donor transplants in the U.S. Each year, this extensive network helps connect tens of thousands of patients with the care they need.

You could be someone’s match. Learn more and join the registry at https://bit.ly/4z5kBa5.

Anxiety, panic attacks and panic disorder are related, but they’re not the same. Understanding the difference can help you describe what you’re feeling and know when to talk with a doctor or mental health clinician.

When Annistyn was born at 22 weeks and 2 days, weighing just 415 grams, or 14.6 ounces, she was admitted to our Level IV NICU at The Woman's Hospital of Texas, where she would spend the next 260 days receiving specialized neonatal care.

Her mom, Kelsey, remembers the neonatal nurses who stood beside their family throughout that journey. “They were there for us on our most difficult days, and they never gave up on Annistyn,” she shared.

Today, Annistyn is starting PreK3 and Kelsey, inspired by the nurses who cared for her daughter, is in nursing school with hopes of becoming a NICU nurse herself.

This , Annistyn and Kelsey’s story is a meaningful reminder of the lasting impact NICU care can have on a family. Read more: https://bit.ly/4yndytC

AFib, short for atrial fibrillation, is a type of irregular heartbeat that can increase your risk of stroke, heart failure and other health concerns. ❤️

Many people don’t know they have AFib until they are diagnosed. Watch Dr. Javier Sanchez, HCA Healthcare cardiac electrophysiologist and American Heart Association volunteer expert, explain common AFib symptoms and ways to manage the condition.

According to the American Heart Association’s 2025 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics report, an estimated 5 million people in the U.S. live with AFib. Together with the American Heart Association, our broader HCA Healthcare network is raising awareness about AFib and heart health.

During Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Week, HCA Houston Healthcare recognizes our APPs and the important role they play across the HCA Healthcare network. From listening and assessing symptoms to helping guide treatment and follow-up care, APPs are there for patients every step of the way.

As highly trained clinicians with advanced degrees, APPs bring deep expertise to patient care. At HCA Healthcare, we’re committed to advancing that expertise by investing more than $50 million in education and professional development annually — because supporting our colleagues means supporting better outcomes for our patients.

To all our APPs, thank you for the compassionate care you provide every day.

Staying active is an important part of supporting your overall health, and understanding how to move safely can help reduce the risk of injury.

We recently connected with members at the Langham Creek Family YMCA and The Woodlands Family YMCA for an educational session focused on injury prevention, safe movement and staying active. Dr. Nickolas Boutris, a board-certified orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon, represented our team by sharing his expertise and practical guidance with participants.

Opportunities like these allow us to bring orthopedic knowledge beyond our walls and support the health and mobility of the communities we serve. Learn more about our sports medicine services: https://bit.ly/4cS0nbe

🤢 Is it a stomach bug, food poisoning or something more serious?

Mild nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may improve with rest and fluids. But some digestive symptoms — like signs of dehydration, blood in your stool, vomit, a high fever or severe stomach pain — shouldn’t be ignored.

Understanding the warning signs can help you know when symptoms may be managed at home and when to seek urgent or emergency care.

Shoulder pain can be more than an inconvenience. Persistent pain while sleeping, difficulty lifting light objects, weakness or loss of range of motion may be signs it’s time to talk with a doctor.

If chronic pain continues despite nonsurgical treatments such as physical therapy or medication, shoulder replacement may be an option. An orthopedic specialist can evaluate your symptoms and help determine the treatment approach that best meets your needs.
