We’re excited to introduce another one of our panelists for the Private Practice Panel Discussion, Felicia Powell, LPC, RPT!

Felicia is the owner of , a group practice dedicated to serving children, adolescents, and families through play-based therapy. As a Registered Play Therapist, she has spent the past several years helping young clients navigate challenges, build resilience, and express themselves in ways that go beyond words.

What we especially appreciate about Felicia is her commitment to creating a space where children feel safe, understood, and empowered. She has built a practice centered around a highly specialized clinical niche, and her experience growing a group practice offers valuable insight for therapists considering their own path in private practice. We also have a feeling her play therapy dog-in-training, Theo, might steal a little bit of the spotlight. 🐾

Whether you’re interested in working with children and families, exploring specialization, or learning what it takes to build and grow a group practice, Felicia’s perspective will be an invaluable addition to the conversation.

We’re excited to introduce another one of our panelists for the Private Practice Panel Discussion - Aaron Shaffer, LPC-S!

Aaron is the founder and owner of , where he’s built a thriving private practice serving clients with complex addiction, trauma, and identity concerns. As a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CMAT), Aaron brings a unique perspective on specialization, niche development, and building a practice around meaningful, focused clinical work.

What we especially appreciate about Aaron is his ability to help clients understand the stories they carry, the beliefs that shape their identity, and the experiences that influence the ways they cope and connect with others. His thoughtful approach to therapy, combined with his private practice experience, makes him an incredible resource for therapists navigating their own professional journey.

Whether you’re just beginning to think about private practice or looking to grow the one you’ve already built, we know that Aaron’s insight will be invaluable.

Today the sun finally came out after what feels like a million straight days of rain, so naturally we ended up outside refreshing the porch a little. New hydrangeas (can’t wait for them to bloom), fresh wreath, flowery doormat. The whole thing looks so cute, don’t you think?! 🌿

Meet our 2026 Private Practice Panelists 🌿

We’re so excited to introduce this year’s lineup of therapists and practice owners joining us for Common Ground’s second annual Private Practice Panel Discussion! This year’s panel represents such a wide range of experiences, specialties, and practice models, including:

• solo + group practice
• self-pay + insurance-based practices
• children, teens, and adults
• practice owners + supervisors
• and even an Associate Licensed Counselor who has built a thriving practice while still under supervision

These are therapists who have been in the trenches of building something from the ground up, and are willing to share the real behind-the-scenes of what helped, what didn’t, and what they wish they had known sooner.

Whether you’re just beginning to consider private practice, newly licensed, or looking to grow what you’ve already built, this is such a valuable opportunity to ask questions, gain clarity, and learn from therapists who have been there.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be spotlighting each panelist individually so you can get to know the amazing therapists joining us this year.

We loved hosting our latest Member Event in Common Ground’s Group Room!

This time, our co-founder Louisa DiLeone led an incredible presentation on “The Therapist’s Guide to Local Instagram Growth.” Louisa has grown her own practice’s social media presence significantly in recent months, leaning into creativity, experimenting with new approaches, and learning how to work with the Instagram algorithm instead of against it.

As part of our ongoing social media and branding Member series, this conversation felt especially meaningful. For so many therapists, showing up online can feel overwhelming, and Louisa brought both clarity and encouragement to the process.

We’re so grateful to her for sharing her knowledge, experience, and real-world insight with our community ✨

More to come in this series. We love supporting our Members in building practices that feel both aligned and visible and helping them navigate the parts of owning a business that may not come naturally to us as therapists.
