| love stories like hers because they remind us that reinvention doesn't always begin with confidence, perfect timing or some big master plan.😏

Sometimes it begins because life changes and you decide to keep moving anyway.

Entrepreneurship is a perpetual roller coaster of navigating life's curve balls.

I spoke to four different business owners in various industries, and we all agreed...

You just have to figure out the next step. Then the next one. You make mistakes. Be ok with that.
Then, you adjust. And then, you keep going.

So if you've been sitting on an idea, questioning whether you're capable, or wondering if it's too late to start something new, remember her story.

Take the leap...even if it is only the small baby step like she did.

You do not have to see the entire road before you start walking😉

So..l did a thing...years ago...🤭

With an amazing marketing agency whose owner believed in me and my message.🥰

The year...2020.

You see, I saw a video on Linkedin for a senior living community. It was NOTHING like anything I have ever seen before...because the BIG BOYS where I previously worked, were not doing this.

It was a heart-centered story telling ad.

I reached out to him cold😳
...and invited him on the podcast. He accepted. Our vision for marketing the positive attributes of working with aging adults aligned.

Years later, he reached out to me and asked me to spend the day filming content with his crew.

On HIS dime...because he believed in me.

Like WOW😱

His team asked me questions. We talked about the industry, the challenges for caregivers and my vision to elevate the skills and knowledge for the new entrants and emerging owners in this subniche...

The residential and independently owned senior living and assisted living homes.

All while they filmed my answers🫣

I saw the potential this market had and see it growing even more today.

Fast forward, Cameron J Barker with and l are still business besties😌

I will never forget his kindness and unwavering belief in what I was doing…
who also BACKED IT UP 👊🏽

By supporting me. Challenging me. Encouraging me.

If you are solely relying on a senior living referral agency to help you find residents to care for, you are risking the funds to actually do the care.😏

Why do I say that, Tiff?

Because…
1. It leaves you vulnerable to connecting ONLY with the families THEY are given.

2. They do not know your community intimately to ensure it is the best match for the family and the resident...it is their best guess…most try but whew…I have seen some dooooosies

3. Some are only partial to who pays the most and who have high rates…there can be integrity issues

4. It is EXPENSIVE!!! You have to build the cost into your rate to cover their fees which then, trickles down to families making senior living less and less affordable.

5. If you are paying referral fees, it takes away from your revenue for you to allocate money to resident care, activities and staffing.

I am a BIG believer in using their services, but I am a BIGGER believer in having the knowledge on how to get your own residents as well.
