PICU SPOTLIGHT ✨💙 Every day, our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit team shows up for the hardest moments — traumatic injuries, critical illnesses, situations that test every limit. So what keeps them going? The answer is simple: the people. The resilient little patients who fight with everything they have. The families who never give up. And a team that shows up for each other like family, every single shift.

If you've had a heartwarming experience in our PICU, drop a shoutout for the team in the comments! 👇

👪 💪 Access to health care starts with access to the right community resources.

This Community Health Improvement Week, we're recognizing Family Links, a program within THE PLAYERS Center for Child Health that helps connect families in Jacksonville with the support they need so children can receive essential health care services. Through assistance with health insurance enrollment and identifying social needs that may impact a child's well-being, Family Links helps remove barriers to care and creates healthier futures for children across our community. ❤️

This important work is made possible through the support of the Jim & Tabitha Furyk Foundation.

⚾ 💙 Who says the best plays only happen on the field?

🦐 The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp brought more than baseball to Wolfson Children’s Hospital - they brought smiles, encouragement and memories our will cherish for years to come.

Players Gage Miller and Amos Willingham took time to connect with patients, hear their stories and make each kiddo feel special. They even teamed up with Jude, our facility dog, to spread a little extra joy throughout the hospital. From autographs to future game tickets, they made a big league impact both on and off the field. 🎟️ 🧢

Thank you for showing our patients that kindness is always a home run! 🦐 ⚾

Strong communities help build strong mental health, and that's exactly what Common Thread was created for. 💪🧠

Launched in August 2025, Common Thread is helping strengthen youth mental health across our region by increasing awareness, understanding and support. Through education, resources and community connections, the program helps build protective factors — positive influences that support emotional well-being and reduce the risk of mental health challenges.

🤝 Together, we can create communities where every child feels supported, connected and empowered to thrive.

Imagine showing up for treatment at the hospital and ending up in a head-to-head Madden matchup with QB1. 🤯🏈 Big thanks to Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, for surprising Ashton (and for being a great sport after a hard-fought 35-33 defeat. 🤭).

Pediatricians often provide parents with a list of signs to watch for that may indicate their child has a developmental delay. Does your baby make eye contact? Does your toddler respond to their name? Are you sharing smiles and giggles?

Girls, especially, often mask or camouflage signs of autism, which can delay a proper diagnosis. In our latest Juice article, we discuss some of the early signs of autism in girls, how to identify masking, and how to get support!

HEAD-TO-HEAD WITH QB1! 🏈🎮

Ashton is a massive Jacksonville Jaguars fan and loves playing as Trevor Lawrence in EA SPORTS MADDEN NFL, but he never dreamed he'd get the chance to go head-to-head with the Jaguars quarterback in person! 🐆

Ashton came to the hospital on a day like any other to receive regular blood transfusions for his immune disorder. He thought he'd be playing Madden against a fellow patient until Trevor Lawrence himself walked through the door to surprise him.

Trevor didn't just stop by to say hello. He sat down, picked up a controller and spent time with Ashton doing what they both love: playing football (virtually, at least).

Moments like these are why we're so grateful to have Trevor as a Wolfson Children's Hospital Ambassador. We can't thank him enough for giving Ashton and his family an experience they'll never forget. 💛

And because we know you're wondering...

Ashton won. 🏆
35-33. 😄

Please join us in wishing a very happy birthday to one of our happiest, most determined , Wesley! 🎂💙

Wesley recently turned one, and he's already accomplished so much. Born with Down syndrome, Wesley spent his first week in the NICU, where he was monitored for a slow-closing patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), a congenital heart condition. He has also faced challenges related to low muscle tone (hypotonia), which can affect mobility. Since he was just 4 months old, he's been working hard in physical therapy with one of his biggest cheerleaders — his "bestie," physical therapist Kelly.

Do you see the enthusiasm in Wesley’s face in this video? Well, it’s impossible not to reciprocate his smile when you’re around him because he’s truly an explorer with a zest for life. His mom, Julia, says that Wesley has really benefitted from the rehab and therapy he began at four months old.

“We’ve loved it for Wesley because it gives him access to the best physical therapy and resources to support his growth,” says Julia. “The idea is that even though his body can’t walk yet, his mind still gets the sensation of moving around independently. He’s got a long road ahead, but it’s so great to see how far he’s come!”

With Wesley's determination and our team, we do not doubt that Wesley is going to keep going further and further!

Happy first birthday, Wesley! We can't wait to see where your next adventure takes you. 🎉
