We love stories with a happy ending, don’t you? 🎉

Emmett here was only eight years old when he was diagnosed with a fast-growing, cancerous brain tumor called medulloblastoma while residing in Nova Scotia, Canada. He was sent down to Florida so that he could receive proton radiation and chemotherapy simultaneously while at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Most kids his age are traveling on vacation, but nobody would wish this kind of trip on an eight-year-old. Luckily, Emmett had a strong support system in his amazing family and a care team that couldn’t resist his charms. 💙

We’re happy to report that Emmett brought that Canadian toughness down to Florida and is now 12 years old and nearly three years in remission! We love giving positive updates on our , and we can tell you that Emmett and his family are thriving! 💪

The experience was difficult for Emmett’s mom, Laura, but she’s extraordinarily grateful for the care that Emmett received here in Jacksonville.

"The pediatric cancer world is not an experience I would wish on anyone, but if you're in a position where you're forced into it, the feeling of compassion, care, comfort and family you experience from the staff at Wolfson Children’s Hospital brings even the smallest glimmers of light to the darkest of days 🫶🏼♥️"🎉

Now let’s congratulate Emmett so loudly in the comments that his family can hear us all the way in Canada! 🇨🇦🎉

Our and their families were well represented on the sideline of the Jacksonville Jaguars big preseason win against the Bucs! 🐆

Before the game, sisters Amelia and Grace signed copies of the official poster they designed for the game. Their hands must have gotten tired from signing so many autographs in the Fan Experience Zone (FEZ!). ✒️

Next, one of our Wolfson Warriors, Knox, was named honorary team captain by the Jags and was accompanied by both his family and our president, Allegra Jaros. Knox may be non-verbal, but we have to think his mere presence (and he has lots of presence!) and his family being on the sidelines provided all the motivation the Jags needed to pick up the W! 🏈

Even Jaxson De Ville got in on the action by wearing a special Wolfson Children's Hospital cape before the game. All told, it was an incredibly special experience for the members of our , and we have the Jaguars and their team to thank for making it happen! 💙

The Wolfson Children's Courage Crew is a group created especially for our patients and families who show strength, courage and a desire to connect. This group offers meaningful opportunities to build bonds and share experiences that will create positive lasting memories both inside and outside the hospital.

Wolfson Children's Hospital is proud to be the official children’s hospital of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Let’s wish the great Coach Tom Coughlin a very happy 80th birthday! 🏈 🎂

Coach Coughlin had his fair share of glory on the gridiron with the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants, but we think he’d agree that the true heroics have come through his work with the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation. There have been too many times to count when Coach Coughlin and the Jay Fund have helped cheer up our . 💙

The work Coach Coughlin and the Jay Fund have done has made a difference for countless children and families facing cancer in our community and beyond. Please join us in wishing him a very ! 🎉

🙅 🐴 No horsing around...unless you're talking about our latest mini VIPs!

Our were thrilled to receive a special visit from Pip and Squeak, therapy minis from North Florida School of Special Education.

Their visit was part of the Assisted Dog and Pony Therapy (ADAPT) Program at Nemours, which uses animal-assisted therapy to help address a variety of mental and emotional health needs in children, including anxiety, grief and loss, behavioral concerns, communication difficulties, depression and emotional adjustment to medical issues.

They may be small, but their visit made a HUGE impression! From sweet snuggles to big smiles, Pip and Squeak were the MANE event of the day. 🦄 ✨

Are you going to the Jacksonville Jaguars game tomorrow night? 🐆

Grace and Amelia, two of our and members of our , designed the official gameday poster that will be available at the Fan Experience Zone (FEZ) before the game!

The sisters created their design in while also working hard in Speech Therapy at — and now their artwork is headed to the Jaguars game! 💙

Swing by the FEZ, pick up a poster and, if you're lucky, get it signed by the artists themselves.

Because art appreciates in value over time, you'll definitely want a Grace and Amelia-signed original before these two Pine Forest School of the Arts students hit the big time. ✒️

Our mission is to help keep the communities we serve safe, and whenever we have an opportunity to share our expertise with those on the front lines, we’re honored to do so.

Kristen, a Pediatric Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator at Wolfson Children's Hospital, recently visited with Camden County Fire Rescue to share her knowledge of pediatric emergency treatment with aspiring EMTs. 🏥

It’s an honor to share our expertise with these future first responders as they prepare to serve their community, and we have no doubt they’ll be a tremendous asset to the community!

Haven gets to be a kid again! 🛝 💙

After arriving at Wolfson Children's Hospital with a brain bleed after a fall, Haven finally got her PICC line out! This means that, except for a few neurosurgery appointments left for general checkups, Haven is done with treatment. This means no more restrictions on water or going outside, just the absolute freedom to be a fun-loving little girl. ☀️

Our team has grown really attached to Haven, so today was especially joyous. You can prepare for so many moments in health care, but nothing quite prepares you for a moment like this. We’re so grateful to be part of a place where like Haven can get the care they need to get back to being kids. 💙

Haven's family has been with her the whole time, and her mother, Alyssa, had this to say about her care:

"To our incredible teams at Wolfson Children's Hospital and Nemours, thank you from the absolute bottom of our hearts. Thank you for fighting for our girl, caring for her, loving her, and most importantly, saving our baby’s life. We will forever be grateful for every doctor, nurse, specialist, and person who played a part in getting Haven to this moment."

She also added this message to Haven and we have no doubt it will be heeded with great gusto!

"You are stronger than you will ever know, baby girl. Now go be the wild, happy, FREE little girl you were always meant to be."

We couldn't agree more, Alyssa. Please join us in saying congratulations to Haven and her family on reaching this milestone! 🎉

Tennis requires a special kind of athlete who can handle the isolation, has an intense competitive drive and can roll with the punches. 🎾

16-year-old William Komanecky is a special kind of athlete. 💪

In 2022, William was tearing it up on the tennis court when he began experiencing extreme pain in his right hip. William began receiving regular injections at Nemours to reduce muscle stiffness and tightness, but the pain became a larger issue when he reached high school.

“I started getting the shots in the seventh grade, but by the time I reached my freshman year of high school, I could barely finish a tennis or wrestling match because my hip felt like it was slipping in and out of place so much,” says William.

After consulting with multiple surgeons at Nemours, William's parents elected for him to undergo a hip-preservation surgery known as periacetabular osteotomy at Wolfson Children's Hospital. 🩺

The surgery improves stability in teens and young adults with hip dysplasia, which is a condition where the bones that make up the hip joint, the femur (thigh bone) and pelvis don’t fit together correctly.

“In William’s case, the dysplasia was severe enough that the ball-shaped top of his thigh bone was slipping out of the cup-shaped socket in the pelvis,” said Dr. Eduardo Novias, chair of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Nemours Children’s Health, Jacksonville, who realigned Komanecky’s hip socket, securing the joint with four metal screws.

This was the first procedure of this kind performed at Wolfson Children's Hospital, and while William was confined to a wheelchair for two weeks, it didn't stop him from practicing his forehand strokes. When he was back on his feet, the matches really began. In his first match back after surgery, William told his mom that it was the first time he'd ever played tennis and it didn't hurt.

William's mom, Sharon, says having Nemours and Wolfson Children's so close was truly a blessing.

"We were willing to go anywhere to get his hip fixed. The fact that we were able to do it so close to home was a blessing, knowing now what goes into that surgery and the whole recovery process.”

We'll see you at Wimbledon, William! 🎾

The Jacksonville Jaguars kicked off the preseason at home with some special guests from our on the sideline! 🐆

The Barber and Ayscue families got to meet The ROAR of the Jaguars and Jaxson De Ville before taking their places on the sideline for an up-close glimpse of the action. Keegan is a huge Jags fan (more on him later), and both Branson and Charlotte were truly taken with all the sights and sounds of game day in ! These kids have been through so much that it was wonderful to give them this experience! 🏈 💙

A big-league moment for one incredible ! ⚾️💙🦐

Before she was born, Kennedy was diagnosed with a rare heart defect called tetralogy of Fallot. After contracting a respiratory infection, her parents brought her to the ER at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, where she underwent heart surgery.

Now, Kennedy is thriving - and was recently selected to join the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp for Home Run for Life, running the bases while the entire stadium cheered her on. This was a day at the ballpark she'll never forget! 🏃‍♀️‍➡️ 🧢

🥳 🎉 Congratulations, Kennedy! We're so proud of how far you've come, and we can't wait to see how far you're going!
