Thank you, Sitka!

Our Annual Community Picnic at the Crescent Harbor Net Shed was filled with great food, live music, and so many smiling faces. We are grateful to everyone who came out to spend the afternoon with us and celebrate our community.

Events like this remind us that accessibility is also about creating spaces where everyone belongs, connects, and enjoys time together.

A huge thank you to our staff, volunteers, community partners, musicians, and everyone who helped make this event possible. Your generosity, time, and enthusiasm made the day one to remember.

We can't wait to see you at the next SAIL event!

The Youth Employment in Parks (YEP) Juneau crew wrapped up the final three weeks of their summer season at the Sandy Beach/Treadwell Disc Golf Course!

Working in partnership with the and , participants helped improve the course while gaining hands-on work experience, learning new skills, and making a lasting impact on one of Juneau's favorite outdoor spaces.

A special thank you to Shannon and Matt from the Juneau Disc Golf Club for spending our last day on the course with us! They introduced the crew to the basics of disc golf, shared throwing techniques on the beach, and gave everyone the chance to test their skills on a brand-new hole that our YEP participants helped install. What a perfect way to celebrate all of their hard work!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a success and for investing in the next generation of park stewards.

As Disability Pride Month comes to a close, Disability Pride continues every day.
It lives in our neighborhoods, our workplaces, our schools, our parks, and in the everyday work of building communities where everyone belongs.

At SAIL, Disability Pride is reflected in the work we do year-round, supporting people with disabilities in living independently, advocating for accessibility, and creating opportunities for everyone to participate fully in community life.

But creating a more accessible Southeast Alaska takes all of us.

We'd love to hear from you!

Tell us about:
-A local business that's making accessibility a priority.
-An inclusive community event.
-A disability-owned business you'd like to celebrate.
-Or simply share what Disability Pride means to you.

Together, we can continue building a Southeast Alaska where everyone feels welcome, included, and valued, not just in July, but every day of the year.

Thank you for celebrating Disability Pride Month with us. Let's keep the conversation, the advocacy, and the community going.

Getting dressed shouldn't be a barrier.

Adaptive clothing is designed to make dressing easier, more comfortable, and more independent for people with disabilities, people recovering from surgery, older adults, and anyone with unique mobility or sensory needs. Features like magnetic closures, side openings, easy-access fasteners, and seamless designs can make a big difference in everyday life.

One item that often goes unnoticed is adaptive underwear. Thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind, adaptive underwear can make dressing, toileting, and personal care more comfortable while supporting greater independence and dignity.

We're excited to share that .out.boutique here in Juneau carries some models of adaptive underwear in their store. Having accessible products available locally helps make our community more inclusive and gives people the opportunity to find clothing that works for them.

Accessibility isn't just about ramps and elevators. It's also about everyday products that allow people to live with greater comfort, confidence, and choice.

Thank you to Bustin' Out Boutique for helping expand accessible options in our community.
