As Summit’s founder and CEO, Dan leads with generosity, an open mind, and a genuine willingness to listen. He makes time for questions, ideas, and concerns, and has a way of seeing the big picture while still caring about the people behind the work.

October is AAC Awareness Month—a time to recognize the many ways people communicate and the tools that can help make communication more accessible. 😀

For many people, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) provides an important way to share their thoughts, needs, interests, and feelings. It can look different from person to person, from speech-generating devices and picture systems to signs, gestures, and more.

At Summit, we’re proud to support our learners in finding the communication methods that work best for them, so they can express themselves, connect with others, and be heard. 💛

Communication can look different from person to person. AAC, signs, gestures, pictures, eye gaze, facial expressions, and so many other forms can help people share their thoughts, needs, interests, and feelings.

On National Non-Speaking Awareness Day, we’re highlighting something we believe in every day: there’s no one “right” way to communicate. At Summit, we support individuals in developing communication skills that work for them—because everyone deserves a way to express themselves, connect with others, and be understood. 💛
