Our hearts at the McNabb Center are heavy to hear of the passing of Mayor Joseph Brooks. He was a compassionate leader, dedicated public servant and friend to so many. The Claiborne County community has suffered a huge loss, and he will be greatly missed.
Mayor Brooks was someone who believed in people, someone who believed in recovery, second chances, and the power of individuals to overcome their struggles and build better lives. He strongly supported the McNabb Center and the work we do to help individuals and families in need. He advocated for and supported those in recovery, stood up for those in need and cared deeply about bringing essential services to the Claiborne County community.
His love for Claiborne County was evident in the way he served, the way he listened and the way he cared. He truly wanted to see his community thrive and was committed to making a difference in the lives of the people he served.
For many, he was more than a Mayor. He was someone who made you feel seen and valued. He loved stopping by the Frosty Freeze for pizza and burgers, and he had a special way of knowing everyone by name. Those small, personal moments are the memories that will stay with us and remind us of the person he truly was.
His impact will live on through the countless lives he touched, the people he encouraged and the positive changes he helped bring to the community. He will never be forgotten.
Our hearts, thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, colleagues and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. We are grateful for his support of the McNabb Center, those in recovery, and the compassion he showed to individuals and families in need.
