June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month!

Focusing on dismantling the stigma surrounding emotional vulnerability, encouraging men to seek help, and addressing the sobering reality that men are significantly less likely to seek professional treatment.
• The Statistics: Nearly 1 in 5 men experience some form of mental health condition, but men are only about half as likely as women to seek professional care.
• High Risk: Men account for nearly 80% of all su***des and are almost four times more likely to die by su***de than women.
• The Root: Ingrained cultural norms—such as expectations of stoicism, self-reliance, and physical toughness—create internal and external barriers to help-seeking behavior.
Common Challenges
Though often underreported, men frequently struggle with the following:
• Depression and anxiety
• Substance use disorders
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• The mental weight of trauma, grief, and life transitions

Men’s Health Week runs from June 14 - 21, culminating on Father’s Day. The week highlights preventable health issues, encourages early detection of disease among men and boys, and pushes back against the trend of men skipping routine health screenings and checkups.
Why It Matters
• Lower Life Expectancy: Men live an average of five years less than women, largely due to preventable conditions.
• Leading Killers: Heart disease, lung cancer, and prostate cancer are leading causes of death for U.S. men.

Men, remember, getting help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Don't struggle alone.
