So this past week did present some struggles with the air quality in a code red and purple, with some extreme heat ,because of both those factors we did spend extra time staying in the facility. We used this time to work on their daily goals and just have some fun.

We, like many others, took advantage of the rare opportunity to see the Big Boy today. Two staff members searched for and secured excellent viewing spots for their groups, and the cool weather allowed them to sit comfortably for two solid hours, enjoying their front-row seats. One of the participants in the program just happens to be an avid lover of all things history, mostly Abraham Lincoln - it warms our hearts to make that happen for all of them.

This was our second week of volunteering with power packs, a non-profit organization that combats weekend hunger for children by providing families with weekly packs of food, recipes, and nutrition education so kids return to school ready to learn.
This week was over 100 degrees and staff and participants of the day program were well hydrated as we were outside for two hours. Since we are also partnered with the Lebanon County Conservative District, and are helping them keep the pavilion at Quittapahilla Wetlands cleaned up, staff used pressure washing tables to keep cool. So, they volunteered for two organizations at the same time. Very proud of staff and participants for responsibly volunteering in the heat.
