Pickleball has officially taken over as a favorite sport around here, and it's easy to see why. 🏓

Our residents get in a great workout, sharpen their reflexes, and catch up with friends, all in the same game. Two indoor courts mean the fun doesn't stop for weather, and the friendly competition never stops either!

The Pavilion has a fresh new look!

600 cushioned banquet chairs recently arrived at The Pavilion, packed into 75 cases weighing 10,000 pounds combined. They were made possible by proceeds from the 2025 John Knox Village Foundation Gala and pair nicely with the new carpet installed earlier this month.

The Pavilion isn't just a John Knox Village favorite. It's also a go to spot for the greater Lee's Summit community, hosting craft fairs, trade shows, proms, weddings, conferences and more throughout the year.

It's also home to the annual John Knox Village Foundation Gala, and this year's updates will make for a great setting when the 2026 Gala returns on Saturday, September 19. Proceeds from this year's event will support major enhancements at the Village Care Center Memory Care facility.

There's something special about a community where neighbors become friends and friends become family.

On National Senior Citizens Day, we're taking a moment to celebrate the people who make John Knox Village feel like home. The residents who greet you by name, the friendships built over shared meals and everyday moments, and the sense of belonging that comes from being part of something bigger than yourself.

We're grateful for every person who makes this community special.

Thanks to a grant from the Greater Lee's Summit Healthcare Foundation, John Knox Village has brought virtual reality (VR) to its campus.

This technology has so far enabled independent living residents to explore the streets of Paris, relax on a tropical beach, and swim with dolphins, all without leaving the Village.

It can even give residents the chance to revisit meaningful places from their past. The headsets are also being used in Village Assisted Living and the Village Care Center, including with memory care residents.

VR uses lightweight headsets to create fully immersive 360-degree experiences that spark memories, ignite curiosity, and bring people together.

KCTV5 News Kansas City stopped by to check out the pickleball courts, pool classes, and more, and even caught up with residents and staff about why staying active matters most as we age.

Community safety is always on our minds at John Knox Village, and this August, residents will get a firsthand look at the training that makes it possible.

Our Public Safety and EMS teams will be at the Daniel D. Rexroth Recreation Center outdoor pool practicing water rescue skills, from safely removing an injured person from the water to providing emergency care right on site.

If you happen to see the team training, know it's all part of the care and preparedness that goes into looking out for one another here at the Village.
