Boundaries are about noticing what feels right for us and honoring what we need. When practiced intentionally, they can help us build trust—not only with others, but with ourselves.

Understanding different boundary styles can help us recognize how we show up in relationships and give us more awareness of the choices we have.

And remember: no type of boundary is inherently wrong. The goal isn't to have perfect boundaries—it’s to build trust in ourselves to know what we need, when we need it.

Grounding is about giving yourself a moment of pause and presence to connect with yourself. These are some of the ways our team finds those moments. What is your go-to? Do you have a favorite spot, a trusted ritual, or a mindful practice that helps you feel more centered and connected to yourself? 🌿💆‍♀️

When your mind feels overwhelmed, sometimes coming back to your body can help.

✋ Catrina shares a technique that might be helpful: you're welcome to try tracing around your hand, pairing each movement with a slow breath.

Grounding isn’t about making yourself calm or pushing difficult feelings away. It’s about gently reconnecting with the present moment and reminding your nervous system: I’m here.

We all react. It’s automatic — fast, protective, fueled by emotion.
But emotional strength shows up in the space after the reaction.

That pause… the inhale… the moment your shoulders drop.
That’s where awareness returns.
That’s where intention becomes possible.
That’s where response lives.

Grounding isn’t about shutting down your feelings.
It’s about creating enough steadiness to choose your next step with clarity.

When we're able to pause, we can ask ourselves...
What emotion am I experiencing? Name it.
Why might I be feeling this way? Understand it.
What might help me in this moment? Support it.

Remember:
Reaction is automatic.
Response is chosen.
Grounding is the bridge.

Meditation is one of many grounding techniques we recommend and encourage at HealTree, especially when building the muscle of emotional strength.

If you're open to it, here's a guided meditation to try, which uses the RAIN method - Recognize, Allow, Investigate, and Nature:

This guided meditation uses the RAIN method, Recognize, Allow, Investigate, and Nurture, to bring mindfulness and self-compassion to difficult emotions. Through these four accessible steps, you learn to notice and accept your feelings, explore them with curiosity, and offer yourself care. Even when....

Emotional strength is not about never having big feelings. It's about knowing what to do with what you feel, and creating space between the feeling and the response to it.

Sometimes, the harder we fight our emotions, the more stuck we become. Emotional strength isn’t about pushing feelings away. It’s about learning to make space for them, stay present, and respond with intention. Watch this demo by Catrina Stiller to learn how a finger trap is the perfect analogy for this concept.
