I still remember the first morning I woke up without pain. There was no burning and no throbbing. It was amazing but also terrifying because nobody prepared me for that.

12 years of pain had become the only normal I knew, and then boom, the pain was gone.

There were many things that helped me get there, but it all started with laying the right foundation:

I acknowledged the pain and practiced mind-body strategies to unlearn it.

Those things are an essential part of healing, but healing doesn’t stop there.

When I finally started eating the right way too, everything changed.
It was all about whole plant foods: nutrient-rich and minimally processed.

I replaced refined sugar, refined flour, and heavily processed fats with vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and legumes.

What I didn’t know was that what I ate could have such a big impact on my health.

Food isn’t a magic cure. Your everyday choices, though, can become a powerful foundation for better health.

If you’re dealing with chronic pain too, hit follow. I share what helped me heal along the way.

Nobody prepares you for the social side of changing your diet.

The comments at family dinners. The eye rolls. The “but where do you get your protein?” for the hundredth time. The friends who take it personally when you don’t eat what they eat.

It can make you feel isolated. Like you have to choose between your health and your relationships.

You don’t. But you do have to get clear on who you are and why you’re doing this…so that someone else’s discomfort doesn’t become your reason to quit.

The women I work with don’t just learn what to eat. They build the identity and the confidence to hold their ground — kindly, without apology — in any social situation.

Because this isn’t a phase. It’s who you’re becoming.

Healthy eating was hard but so was living with chronic pain every single day.

Changing the way I eat took effort. I had to learn new habits, change what I bought and rethink what I considered “normal” food.

But my body was giving me a very clear message:

Staying the same was costing me more.

If you’re living with chronic pain and reclaim your life from pain, follow me.

“If you can’t see the pain,” they told me, “it’s not real.”

Eight doctors. Eight times I described the same pain, in the same detail. Eight times I was dismissed, and every time I felt more lost.

Like I was invisible in the room.

What none of them understood: chronic pain leaves no mark. You can’t point to it and you can’t see it. But that doesn’t mean it’s not there.

Let’s take migraines, fibromyalgia, or complex regional pain syndrome. These conditions can cause severe, constant pain even when every test comes back “normal.”

Yet so many of us are told it’s all in our heads.

So don’t believe that your chronic pain doesn’t exist. There’s a lot of misinformation and a lot of doctors who aren’t trained in it.

But a doctor telling you nothing’s wrong isn’t the final word.

Living with chronic pain taught me how misunderstood and stigmatized it really is. It doesn’t follow predictable patterns. It can be invisible to everyone else and still be completely real to the person living with it.

If you’re living with chronic pain and feel isolated and misunderstood, follow me. I’m here to make pain easier to understand.

For years, I built my life around the belief I would never be pain free. Every decision was made around my flare ups:

I said no to meeting with friends. I turned down weekend trips. I skipped birthdays and family dinners.

I learned how to influence the pain with breathing exercises, mindfulness, meditation, gentle exercises, and art therapy.

But nutrition?

Never came up. Not once.

We talked about medication. We talked about ways to manage the pain. We never talked about what I was eating.

So I started doing my own research and changed what’s on my plate:

🔹 More colourful veggies and fruit for vitamins
🔹 More nuts, seeds, and avocados for healthy fats
🔹 More whole grains and legumes for fiber
🔹 More cruciferous veggies for phytonutrients
🔹 More herbs and spices for antioxidants
🔹 More leafy green veggies for anti-inflammatory benefits

I wasn’t looking for another way to manage the pain. I wanted to heal 💪

19 years ago I was told forever. Today I’m eight years into proving that wrong.

It was 2007. I was diagnosed with CRPS — complex regional pain syndrome.

Within just a couple of weeks, I was in a wheelchair, on pain medication, and told I might have to live with this chronic pain for the rest of my life.

Over the years, I learned how to breathe through the pain. I learned meditation and mindfulness to turn it down. I learned stretching and exercises that helped me align my body again.

All of it helped me get some control over the pain but none of it healed me.

When I started asking doctors if a change in diet could help, they told me diet and nutrition had nothing to do with my pain. I could change my diet all I wanted. I wouldn’t see any difference.

After 11 years of constant throbbing, burning, stinging pain, always careful not to overdo it and terrified of having another flare-up, I started looking for a way out anyway.

And I changed my diet.

A couple of weeks later, I woke up without pain for the first time.

During the day, the pain came back. But a week later, I woke up pain-free again. And then again. And again. It kept repeating, until eventually, I was completely healed.

I’ve been pain-free for 8 years now and still stunned that not one of the doctors treating me for my CRPS ever suggested a diet change, after all those years of being in pain.
