Time for a little reintroduction of our team!

Meet our Sydney -

“My name is Sydney Palacio Diaz! I grew up in San Diego, CA and moved to Louisville, KY as a young teenager. I was originally a math teacher, but was completely transformed by my first pregnancy and birth experience. I had my first at home after a long and challenging 40+ hour labor; though it was incredible and empowering, it would have made a huge difference to have a doula there to see me through. This sparked a desire to give other women the support I wish I would have had. I did my first doula training with ToLABOR when my oldest was about a year old. I have since completed continuing education with BBTW. I also made sure to have a doula present at my second and third home births, and can say firsthand: there is truly nothing that compares to women supporting women.

My goal is to provide emotional, physical, spiritual, and educational support throughout your pregnancy, labor, and birth. I am also here to advocate that your care be evidence-based and patient-centered. My desire is for you to leave your birth experience feeling confident and empowered as you enter in to the next stage of your motherhood. Every birth I attend makes me more and more passionate about this work.

When I’m not supporting women as a doula or home birth assistant, you will probably find me hanging with my husband and my 3 kiddos, cooking or baking sourdough bread, reading a good book, attempting to learn piano, or trying to catch up on laundry. I can’t wait to meet you and get to know you!

We are BLESSED to have her on our team - pouring into women ….their families, their birth spaces and the birth community in Louisville! 🌼

Celebrating Midwives this week👏🏻

Midwifery care is no new concept. However, the impact it’s making in our world today is immense. We live in a world where women often don’t feel seen, don’t feel heard, don’t feel fully informed and don’t feel held in vulnerable spaces — midwifery care is changing that.

Countless women who have their care through midwives can attest to this. The difference they feel is so real.

Midwives - thank you for holding space, advocating, listening, honoring, trusting, being gentle - the list goes on and on and it doesn’t go unnoticed! Thank you for the work you do!

Lots of chatter on our team lately about what helps create an environment for successful VBAC!

Just this year, our team has supported several successful VBAC stories! Above are some of the things these mothers have implemented.

Some additional thoughts :

• don’t be afraid to switch providers
• look up stats of where you are giving birth as well as VBAC stats on the specific provider you are using
• understand you can also have a successful VBAC at home
• believe your body can do it!
• educate, educate, educate!
