Today is the Day of Compassion, a shared day of service in partnership with the Muhammad Ali Center and Metro United Way!

Volunteers spent the day laying mulch, landscaping, and cleaning one of Wellspring's properties. Thank you to Weichert Realty and all who volunteered their time to give back and embody Ali’s famous words: “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.”

As the Metro Council holds budget hearings this week, the Safe & Stable coalition is asking for a full commitment to the housing continuum. Please join us in supporting the Mayor’s proposed wins for homeless services and asking the Council to match it with a proactive Housing Stabilization Fund.

World Schizophrenia Day on May 24 is dedicated to raising awareness about a condition that affects approximately 24 million people worldwide, yet remains one of the most misunderstood mental health disorders. Here are some tips for better understanding schizophrenia:

• Replace fear with compassion
• Avoid assumptions and judgments
• Educate yourself by learning more about schizophrenia, including its symptoms, causes, and treatment options.

Our Crisis Stabilization Team turned the units into a Wellspring Cafe Juice Bar that truly clients and staff truly enjoyed. 🥤🍉

Clients were able to try a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables while learning about healthier drink options and the benefits of incorporating fresh produce into daily routines. It was nice seeing everyone engaged, socializing, and open to trying new flavors in a positive and welcoming environment.

The activity promoted wellness, healthy choices, social interaction, and creativity while giving everyone an opportunity to enjoy something refreshing and different during the day.

Several of Wellspring's Crisis Stabilization Unit key staff enjoyed a rare day out of the office thanks to our community partners with The Brook Hospitals who hosted a wonderful community networking day at Churchill Downs. Thank you Katina Wallace and your team for including Wellspring and for a great relationship of cross-referrals that help adults with mental illness find the appropriate level of care they need for acute psychiatric symptoms.
