Jason Caleb Robinson

Jason Caleb Robinson, 43, of Randolph, VA, passed away Friday, June 12, 2026. He was the fiancé of Janet Marie Davis.

Born December 27, 1982, in Bloomsburg, PA, he was the son of Deborah Cotner-Davis and the late Earl Eugene Robinson. Jason was of the Catholic faith and previously attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He was employed with Burleigh Construction as a Project Manager.

He is survived by his mother, Deborah Cotner-Davis, and her husband, Randall; Jason's fiancé, Janet Marie Davis; his grandmothers, Ruth Cotner of PA and Betty Robinson of VA; four sons, Cayden Coolbaugh of Perkasie, PA, Jacob Davis (Jenna) of White Sulphur Springs, Beau Davis, Luke Davis; one daughter, Sophia Davis, all of Randolph, VA. He is also survived by a brother, Arthur "Art" Pursel (Kiristy) of Gladys, VA; a sister, Autumn Robinson Davis of Doylestown, PA; six nieces, Danielle Meadow (Travis), Jessica Pursel, Alexis Johnson, Erika DeBlock, Alexis DeBlock and Breanna DeBlock; four nephews, Connor Pursel, Colton Pursel, Cooper Pursel and Caleb DeBlock; three great nieces, Everly Meadow, Cora Meadow and Piper Meadow, one great nephew, Casen Johnson and many friends.

A Celebration of Jason's life will be held Monday, June 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately after the service with a reception at the funeral home.

John Madaras

John Madaras, 74, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at UVA Medical Center. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather whose distinguished career in nuclear engineering took him to the far corners of the world.

John was born on August 12, 1951, in Yonkers, New York, the son of John and Mildred Madaras. He was a man of quiet brilliance, deep integrity, and unwavering dedication to his family and his work. Over the course of his career, John worked on a wide array of international projects; he brought American expertise and ingenuity to energy and engineering challenges around the globe.

Yet for all his professional achievements, John's proudest role was always that of family man. He had a gift for making each person feel seen and special — through patient conversation, a well-timed word of wisdom, or simply being present.

John is survived by his beloved wife and devoted companion, Mary Rose Madaras. He was a loving brother and uncle to Marita Dulman and her family. He was a proud father to his son, Bryan Madaras, and Bryan's wife, Michelle, and a loving father to his daughter, Lauren Thomas, and her husband, Troy. He cherished his five grandchildren — Jacob, Aiden, and Paige Madaras, and Logan and Aaron Thomas — who brought him immeasurable joy in his later years.

John Madaras lived a life of substance and service. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Thomas Francis "Tom" Sauerward, 67, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 29, 2026. He was married to Lynda Bailey Sauerwald.

He was born May 18, 1959, in Bethesda, MD to the late Thomas Leo Sauerwald and Barbara Smith Sauerwald Digangi. He was retired from his construction business and attended Waymaker Church. He loved to fish and enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Lynda; a son Brian Sauerwald and his wife, Xanat, of Nashville, TN; a step son, Travis Brown and his wife , Nicole, of Lynchburg, VA; a daughter, Lauren Jane Sauerwald and fiancé Josh of Syracuse, NY and a step daughter, Erin Hoffman and her husband, Gregg, of Chesterfield, VA ; three brothers, Charles "Chuck" Sauerwald of New Jersey, Mark Sauerwald and his wife ,Cheri, of Mt. Run, ID and Jimmy Sauerwald of NJ; one sister, Annie Tremmel and her husband Joe, of NJ; eight grandchildren, Caymon Clemons, Kaylee Brown and fiancé Wesley, Savanah Williams and her husband, Trevis, Collin Brown, Hannah Allen, Madison Allen, Chloe Hoffman and Lindsey Brown; two great grandchildren, Ivy and Emery Williams.

The family will receive friends at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 12 noon until 1:00 followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm with Gregg Hoffman officiating. Interment will be in Virginia Memorial Park.

Troy Joe Alexander. 69 of Appomattox, Va passed away while vacationing at Myrtle Beach on Thursday, May 28, 2026. He was married to Sandra “Sandy” Mann Alexander for 32 years of wonderful marriage after having met in 1994.

Born April 23, 1957, in Elizabeth City, NC, he was a son of the late Elwood Preston Alexander and Jean Jones Alexander. He was retired from the building maintenance business and a member of Victory Baptist Church. He loved “anything” beach and spent a lot of time there while enjoying the seafood and offshore fishing. In his younger years, while at Manteo High School he built hot rods and raced them; mostly legally! He proudly served our country in the United State Army as diesel mechanic in Germany for four years and earned a marksman badge for his shooting skills. He also loved to garden and hangout with his many friends and hosted many cookouts. He always kept his car in clean and mint condition.

In addition to his wife, Sandy, he is survived by two stepsons, Christopher Tyree and Mikel Tyree; two brothers, Charles Alexander and his wife, Virginia of Plymouth, NC and Glenn Alexander and his wife, Judy, of Lynchburg, VA.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Victory Baptist Church-Building Fund, P.O.Box 834, Appomattox, VA 24522., Spout Springs, VA 24593.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Victory Baptist Church in Spout Springs, VA with Pastor Jeff Worley officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church.

Military Honors by American Legion Post 16, Lynchburg, Virginia.

Twice married; she was the widow of her first husband, Paul Rae Conger. and her second husband, Duarte Medeiro Sr. In 2023.Born August 31, 1934, in Owosso, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Frank Reinhold Walter Schlaack and Frances Leona Beebe Schlaack.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a founding member of Living Water Ministries.She is survived by her five children, Michael Conger and his wife, Julia, Ronald Conger, Linda Kibbe and her husband, Steve , Eric Conger, Jodi Cubney and her husband, Brian; seven grandchildren, Carrie Huot and her husband, Michael, Samantha Conger, Joshua Conger and Elizabeth Conger, Tommy Bradner, Brian Cadney, Jr., Jennifer Kick and her husband, Ryan; three great grandchildren, Paul Huot, Leopold Huot and Ryan Huot.

Hazel Wiley Hammersley Ashworth, 96, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Heritage Green Assisted Living. Twice married; she married her high school sweet Charles E. Hammersley, Sr. who passed after 17 years of marriage. and later married her second husband, Cecil F. “Salty” Ashworth, Jr.

Born July 12, 1929, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert Bruce Wiley and Margaret Dawson Wiley. She was a member of Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church and retired from C & P Telephone Company after 33 years of service. She was the secretary of T.P. A. , Teletype for the Deaf, Elks Lodge where she served as a trustee and secretary and Elks Ladies Auxiliary where she served as Chaplain for three years and the newspaper for seven years. She also served as A.B.W.A. Vice-President of Education.

She is survived by her son, Charles E. Hammersley, Jr. and his wife, Cathy; two brothers, Robert Wayne Wiley and James Garland Wiley; two grandchildren, Logan Hammersley and Jennifer Hammersley DeNova and her husband, Michael; two great grandchildren, Ava and Mia DeNova.

Virginia Clark “Jenny” Tweedy 84, of Evington, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 18, 2026. She was the wife of the late Robert Earl Tweedy.

Born July 2, 1941, in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late Raise Loving Clark and Ruby Gaynelle Botkin Clark. She retired from G.E and later Sam’s Club, where she was a customer service clerk; a job she really loved. She loved many things in life, including blue grass music and sitting on her patio watching and listening to the birds and especially her furry companion “Bella”.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Lee Tweedy and his wife, Tonia of Evington, VA and Bryan Eugene Tweedy and his wife Sandi, of Lynchburg, VA; one grandchild, Carrington Lee Pollard of Lynch Station, VA.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 2-4 pm at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel.

James Arthur Wells, Sr.

James Arthur Wells, Sr. 86, of Evington, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home after a long illness on Monday, May 11, 2026. He was the husband of the late Etta Miller Wells.

Born March 4, 1940, in Halifax County, he was a son of the late James Johnson Wells and Janie Millner Wells. He was also predeceased by a brother, Douglas “Doug” Wells; two sisters, Edith Stancel and Emma Jean Seamster; son-in-law, Sam Lloyd. He was a retired carpenter with CENTRA Health and was a professional wrestling promoter. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Tina Wells Lloyd of Huddleston, VA; one son, Jamie Wells, Jr. of Hurt, VA, one brother, Howard Wells (Kitty) of Brookneal, VA; two sisters, Reva Wisely and Mary Jane Wells; four grandchildren, Brittany “Nikki” Harmon, Terry “Keith” Harmon (Alease) and their father, Terry Allen Harmon; Nathan Wells and Kayla Wells; three great-grandchildren, Jillian Harmon, Mason Harmon and Cheyenne Verdinella and numerous nieces and nephews and his many wrestling buddies, including Lindin Lairson aka Peppie Lopez and special friend, John Thomas. He is also survived by his special furry friend, “Munchkin”.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 15, 2026, at Altavista Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dan G. Mason officiating. The body will be at his home after 3 pm Wednesday, 4553 Wards Rd., and friends may call there for viewing and visitation.

Doris Jeanette Bishop Brown, 88, of Lynchburg VA passed away peacefully on Monday April 27, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Steve Kelly Brown, Sr. Born on January 12, 1938, in Flat Rock, NC. She was the daughter of the late Hewitt L. Bishop and Eva King Bishop. In addition to her husband and parents, she was proceeded in death by her sister Carolyn Bishop McGraw and her 3 brothers, Wayne Bishop, Donnie Bishop, and Eddie Bishop.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a hairdresser for years. She also was an avid gardener and loved bird watching.

She is survived by her 4 children, Virginia Ann Westphal (Steve) of Columbia, SC, Steve Kelly Brown, Jr. of Lynchburg, VA, Teresa Brown Wilson of Concord, VA, and Allen Wayne Brown (Robin) of Greensboro, NC.
