***Important Project Update***

Several signalized intersections will convert to 4-way stops for several months due to replacement.

***South 8th and Washington Street***
***South 10th and Franklin Street***
***South 10th and Washington Street***
***South 10th and Marshall Street***

These projects are being funded through a state grant to upgrade the decades old signals that are currently there.

The contractor plans to close South 10th and Franklin St. and South 10th and Washington St. beginning on Monday, October 18th.
They also intend to close South 10th and Marshall St. to northbound and southbound traffic, but will allow one lane of traffic in each direction on Marshall St. (eastbound and westbound) to cross S. 10th St.

S. 8th and Washington Street will remain open to traffic at all times.
The intersections will be reopened to one lane of traffic in each direction during the non-working hours and weekends. They will also reopen these intersections to one lane of traffic in each direction as the work progresses and they are not actively working on that particular intersection.

It is anticipated that all underground work and above ground restoration work will be completed in about 2 to 2-1/2 weeks, weather permitting.

However, the traffic signals will not be operational until January 2022. Therefore, these 4 intersections will be controlled by Stop Signs beginning next week and they will remain that way until January 2022. There is a very long lead time on many of the components. We pre-purchased and ordered many of those long lead time items several months ago, but they are not expected to arrive until just before or just after the Christmas Holiday. We need to get the underground work done now (timing for contractors to do the work and before winter).

Detours will be in place as follows:

Eastbound Traffic on South Water Street will be detoured at Franklin St. and traffic will be routed west on Franklin Street back to South 14th St. and then use S. 14th St. southbound to Marshall St. and then Marshall St. to South 8th St.

Eastbound traffic on Franklin Street and Washington Street will be detoured at South 14th Street and will proceed southbound to Marshall Street and then eastbound on Marshall Street to South 8th Street.

For Southbound traffic coming over the 10th St. bridge, they will be detoured onto Quay St. to S. 9th St. and then southbound on S. 9th St. to Marshall St.
