Whiteboard Wednesday
You can’t climb from shutdown to safe in one giant leap.
That’s not how your nervous system works.
If you’re in shutdown, the next step might simply be standing up, stretching, or stepping outside.
If you’re in fight or flight, the next step might be a long exhale, unclenching your jaw, or hearing a familiar voice.
We often judge ourselves for not feeling “better” fast enough, but healing doesn’t happen by skipping rungs. It happens one cue of safety at a time.
Today, don’t ask yourself, “What’s wrong with me?”
Ask yourself, “What rung am I on… and what’s one small step that helps me climb?”
Question: Which rung do you find yourself on most often—Safe + Connected, Fight/Flight, or Shutdown?
