Big Boy No. 4014 the world's largest operating steam locomotive toured through Iowa as part of the celebration of America's 250th Anniversary. Of course our active community members showed up for the party! They met the train in Tama, Iowa and as you can see by the photos they weren't the only ones have a great time!

Some people bring clothes and furniture when they move. Our men brought toolboxes. So we created wood shop space for them-new lighting, updated electrical and plenty of room for sawdust!! It isn't fancy -and that's exactly why it's perfect, like the kind of garage many of our men spent time working in. For several years our Summit Pointe community members have enjoyed this gathering and workplace-because here hobbies don't stop, they just get a new address!

Earlier this month, Summit Pointe Community members had the opportunity to hear students from Hazel Point play their instruments BUT the best part of the day was the visits afterwards. As you scroll through the photos you can see 1. The happiness on our members faces and 2. The genuine respect, politeness, and care the students showed our members. At Summit Pointe, staying active isn’t just about movement-it’s about meaning. Our tenants love attending to the their garden boxes, and we love supporting their hobbies, last week we took community members to the Master Gardeners plant sale at Lowe Park. So whether they are seasoned gardeners or just discovering the joy of growing something -Summit Pointe has something for everyone at every level!
