We’re excited to shine the spotlight on Marlene this month! Marlene joined our community last February and is happily accompanied by her cat, Missy. 🐾
Marlene grew up in a farmhouse in Springville, Iowa, and attended Springville School from Kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. During her school years, she stayed active in both choir and band—playing the trombone!
She met her children’s father, Loren, in high school, and the two later moved to Anamosa, where they worked at Rockwell building technology boards. Her favorite part of her career was the people - which makes perfect sense, because she truly is a social butterfly! Marlene has a gift for making friends wherever she goes, both inside and outside our community.
Family has always been a big part of Marlene’s life. She has four children and more grandkids and great-grandkids than she can count!
Growing up, Marlene showed horses through 4-H, and that passion carried on to her children, who traveled to horse shows as well.
In her free time, Marlene enjoys golf, puzzles, diamond art, bingo, and watching westerns - especially those starring Clint Eastwood! She also doesn’t mind kicking back and enjoying a good beer now and then.
When asked what she loves most about living here, Marlene shared that it’s the people - everyone is welcoming and friendly.
Her advice to others? “Keep your nose clean and don’t let anyone get to ya!”
