We join the play therapy community in mourning the loss of Dr. Garry Landreth.

Dr. Landreth dedicated his life to helping others understand children through the language of play. As a therapist, educator, supervisor, author, and advocate, his influence shaped generations of counselors and the children and families they serve.

At Therapy on the Square, we feel that loss personally. Our founder, Dr. Brandy Schumann, was mentored by Dr. Landreth throughout her master’s and doctoral training and was his final doctoral student. Many of the principles that guide our work today were learned from him.

We extend our condolences to his family, friends, former students, and the play therapy community. The children and families who have come through our doors over the years have been touched by his influence, whether they ever knew his name or not. For that, we will always be grateful.
