CommonGood Medical CommonGood Medical is a free health clinic for under-resourced, uninsured, Collin County residents. https://linktr.ee/cgmedical

Hope Clinic of McKinney is a non-urgent, primary care medical clinic for under-resourced, uninsured residents of Collin County. Hope Clinic also provides optometry services, dermatology, pulmonology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, prescription assistance, and counseling. Appointments are required as we are unable to accommodate walk-ins. Patients are not billed for services, but asked to make a donation that is meaningful to them. All services are rendered without regard to a patient's ability to donate.

✨ Staff Spotlight: Meet Paulina Romero! ✨

This month, we’re excited to highlight Paulina Romero, our Nurse Manager at CommonGood Medical! Paulina brings compassion, leadership, and a genuine heart for our patients to everything she does. Her dedication to supporting both our patients and clinical team helps make CommonGood a place where people feel welcomed, cared for, and valued. We are so grateful to have her on our team!

We asked Paulina a few fun questions to get to know her better:

💙 If you could describe CommonGood in one word, what would it be and why?
“Hope.” “CommonGood Medical provides hope to individuals and families by offering compassionate care, support, and access to resources that help them move toward a healthier future.”

🍓 Favorite local lunch spot:
“I could eat the strawberry cup from Café Zupas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. It’s that good! Plus, it’s healthy... because it’s fruit. 🍓😄”

☕ Favorite clinic comfort:
“My go-to comfort drink is the Honey Citrus Mint Tea from Starbucks. ☕🍋 Fun fact: it started as a secret menu item and was originally known as the Medicine Ball before becoming an official menu offering.”

💗 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

At CommonGood Medical, we believe that caring for our neighbors means caring for the whole person. That includes encouraging conversations about breast health, raising awareness, and reminding our community that no one should feel alone when facing health concerns.

Here are a few important reminders about breast cancer:

💗 Early detection matters. Mammograms can sometimes find breast cancer before symptoms appear, when treatment may be more effective.

💗 Know what is normal for your body. A new lump, changes in breast shape or size, ni**le discharge, or unusual skin changes should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

💗 Talk with your healthcare provider. Screening recommendations can vary based on age, personal health history, and family history. Ask when and how often you should be screened.

💗 Support matters, too. Whether someone is navigating a diagnosis, undergoing treatment, celebrating survivorship, or remembering a loved one, compassion and community can make a meaningful difference.

Scripture reminds us:

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."
Romans 12:12

This month, we honor the women who have faced breast cancer, celebrate the strength and resilience of survivors, remember those we have lost, and stand alongside the families, friends, and caregivers who have walked this journey with their loved ones.

At CommonGood Medical, we believe every woman deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and care.

Before Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, CommonGood Medical and CommonGood Thrift want to take a moment to celebrate! 💛

We are grateful for the Hispanic and Latino neighbors who are such an important part of the CommonGood community. They are our patients, shoppers, staff members, volunteers, donors, supporters, partners, and friends. They bring their stories, traditions, talents, generosity, and heart to our community, and CommonGood is stronger because they are part of it.

Hispanic Heritage Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultures and traditions represented throughout our community, but our gratitude extends far beyond one month.

We are grateful to the Kiwanis Club of Allen for welcoming CommonGood Medical and giving us the opportunity to share more about our mission and the neighbors we serve!

It was a privilege to spend time with a group that shares such a strong heart for service and for strengthening our community. We loved getting to share more about the work happening at CommonGood, the healthcare needs facing uninsured families in Collin County, and the many ways our community can come alongside our neighbors.

Every opportunity to tell the CommonGood story helps more people learn about the resources available in our community and reminds us of what can happen when people who care about serving others come together.

We’re grateful to Volunteer McKinney for inviting CommonGood Medical to be a guest speaker at their Nonprofit Leadership Breakfast last month!

It was a privilege to share more about CommonGood’s mission, the neighbors we serve, and the work happening every day to make compassionate healthcare more accessible in our community.

But one of our favorite parts was simply being in a room with so many people who care deeply about serving others. Opportunities like this give local nonprofits the chance to learn from one another, build relationships, share resources, and encourage each other in the work we’ve been called to do.

We are grateful to the City of McKinney for inviting CommonGood Medical to be a guest speaker at the Faith Forward Initiative!

It was a privilege to share more about CommonGood’s mission, the neighbors we serve, and how our faith calls us to provide compassionate, whole-person healthcare to those in our community who might otherwise go without care.

We’re also thankful for the opportunity to connect with local faith communities, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders who share a desire to serve McKinney well. When we build relationships, share resources, and work together, we can better meet the needs of our neighbors.

We are incredibly grateful to the McKinney Community Development Corporation (MCDC) for investing in the future of CommonGood Medical and the neighbors we serve.

The grant we received from MCDC will help us provide accessible healthcare to our neighbors for years to come.

For our patients, this investment is about so much more than a building or new equipment. It means greater access to care, more services available in one place, and fewer barriers standing between our uninsured neighbors and the healthcare they need.

As CommonGood continues to grow alongside our community, partners like MCDC help us create the space and resources needed to care for more neighbors with compassion, dignity, and excellence.

A big thank you to USM Technology and Chloe Mae Studios for welcoming CommonGood and giving us the opportunity to spend time with your teams, share more about our mission, and talk about the healthcare needs facing uninsured neighbors in our community.

Some of the greatest resources a nonprofit can have are people and organizations willing to listen, learn, share, and champion the mission. Every conversation helps more people understand the need for accessible healthcare and how, together, we can help care for our neighbors.

Moving into a new clinic takes a lot of boxes, a lot of coordination, and, thankfully, some pretty incredible people willing to lend a hand.

A huge thank you to the team at Tangram Interiors for spending the day with us and helping CommonGood Medical move into our new clinic space!

From moving furniture and equipment to organizing rooms and helping us get settled, your team rolled up their sleeves and helped us prepare a space where our neighbors can receive compassionate, whole-person care.

We also want to give a special thank you to Lauren Ghizzoni for her help in making this possible. Lauren, we are so grateful for the time, energy, and heart you invested in CommonGood during such an important season of growth.

Every box moved and every room prepared helped bring us one step closer to welcoming patients into a space built to serve them with dignity and care.
