Hopewell is a therapeutic farm community for adults with mental illness located in Mesopotamia, Ohio.

In addition to work crews, residents work with their clinical manager to select from a wide range of other therapeutic and interest groups such as:

Anger management Dual diagnosis issues

Equine Assisted Psy- Music - Instruction & per-
chotherapy formance opportunities

Dialectical Behavior Independent living skills
Therapy (shopping, cooking, etc)

Money management Creative expression

Meditation and Spirituality

High school diploma and other educational programs

Hopewell staff has been busying winterizing the bee colony. They inspected the hives to make sure the colonies look healthy, patched holes with beeswax to keep the hive insulated, added sugar patties to help feed the bees through the winter, and put insulated covers on the hives to help keep them warm!

During a Hopewell ecotherapy session, residents observed and talked to the cows that came up to the fence. Everyone discussed how connecting with animals leads to relaxation, feeling less alone and recognizing how humans and animals can nurture each other.

A group of Hopewell residents volunteer every Monday at a summer lunch program in Geauga county. Last week the program marked a huge milestone of 100,000 meals served! The residents help with everything, interacting and engaging with other volunteers. It's a great group of people and our residents thrive in the community.
