By now most of us have read multiple posts about the horrific murder su***de that has left 2 children without their parents this week. I have been a Certified Domestic Violence Specialist for more than 25 years. I’ve worked with offenders, victims, and their friends and family.
In the last 2 days I’ve been flooded with new referrals of individuals afraid of their safety and previous patients reliving their past experiences in Domestic Violence. So many Women who are reading these news reports and posts that can’t shake the feeling that this could be them next or this could have been their outcome in the past. If you are living in the uncertainty of yours or your children’s safety because your partner has unstable mental health, insane behaviors threats and perhaps even addictions this post is for you.

We also have U.S. National Domestic Violence Hotline at (800)799-7233. And lastly Please reach out to me for support 302-423-8123. I will support you while you choose to stay and feel there is no way out and support you if you can be brave enough to get out. So many women are tormented in fear worry doubt failure and unraveling in the unknown if they were to leave . One of the scariest things in staying is you never can choose if when and how things can go out of control in seconds and who’s there for it or not. It’s delusional to think we’re in control of our vehicle of life and our children’s when we have an erratic , out of control, maybe even addict partner around. And, any moment escalations can arise and impulsive choices can be acted on that we can’t control nor go back in time and change. I’ve sat with many mothers sobbing whose kids weren’t supposed to come into room or be home when their child’s life was taken or altered in violence. I’ve sat with men sobbing who’ve pleaded “it wasn’t supposed to go like this “ . A life in domestic violence is UNSUSTAINABLE for EVERYONE . While you can and to the best of your ability choose an ending that removes children from living in this uncertainty everyday. And while leaving is a safety risk in and of itself . I’d be happy to try to help you develop the best safety plan we can. Lastly, we are all responsible for these 2 little boys and need to wrap them in the love and safety of our community and support so they can learn and be reminded of the beauty in this world against the measure of evil that will always be present and they’ve been robbed of. We also need to be informed and supportive of others we know in these situations.
