If I had to start everyone at square one, it would always be these two things: awareness and presence. 🌿
Not breathing techniques. Not journaling prompts. Not even boundaries — yet.
Because before any tool works, you have to actually notice what’s happening in your body and mind in real time. Most of my clients come in so used to pushing through anxiety that they’ve lost touch with the early signals — the tight chest, the racing thoughts, the urge to check one more thing.
Awareness is learning to catch it earlier, before it snowballs.
Presence is learning to stay in your actual life — not three steps ahead, worrying about what hasn’t happened yet.
These two things sound simple. They’re not easy. But they’re the foundation everything else gets built on.
You don’t have to master calm today. You just have to start noticing.
💬 What’s the first sign your body gives you that anxiety is creeping in?
🔖 Save this as your starting point.

“I don’t want to bother anyone” — the sentence keeping so many women stuck in silence. 😔
If asking for help feels like a last resort instead of a first option, you’re not alone. So many moms and women have learned to equate needing support with being a burden.
But here’s the truth: needing help isn’t an inconvenience you’re causing. It’s a normal, human need — and the people who care about you want to be let in, not kept out.
That call to your therapist? That’s not “bothering” someone. That’s taking care of yourself before you hit empty.
You don’t have to earn support by struggling first.
💬 What’s the story you tell yourself about asking for help?
🔖 Save this for the next time silence feels safer than asking.

Anxiety loves to live in the future. 🌀
That thing that hasn’t happened yet? Your nervous system doesn’t know the difference between “might happen” and “is happening” — so it reacts like it’s real.
Here’s what actually helps when your mind starts spinning on what-ifs:
🚶‍♀️ Go for a walk without your phone
📝 Make a list of what’s actually in your control today
🌬️ Take five slow breaths before you react
🎨 Do something unexpected, creative, or just plain fun
None of these “fix” anxiety. But they interrupt it — and give your nervous system a chance to catch up with reality.
You don’t have to solve the whole spiral today. Just the next five minutes.
💬 Which one are you trying first?
🔖 Save this for the next what-if moment.

This isn’t relaxing. This is standby mode.
And if you’ve never actually finished a full exhale without one ear listening for footsteps — I see you.
Anxiety in moms doesn’t always look like worry. Sometimes it just looks like never fully being off duty, even when you’re technically “resting.”
You’re allowed to rest without a countdown attached to it. Even if it takes practice to believe that.
👇 How long does your “five minutes” usually actually last? Be honest. 🔖 Save this for the next time you need permission to stay sitting.

Anxiety has a way of convincing moms that if you’re worrying, you’re protecting.

So instead of laughing at the park, you’re thinking about what could happen.
Instead of soaking up bedtime snuggles, you’re replaying everything you “should’ve” done differently.
Instead of enjoying today, you’re preparing for tomorrow.

The hardest part? It can feel responsible.

But your children don’t need a mom who never worries. They need a mom who knows how to come back to the present—even when anxiety is asking for her attention.

Being present isn’t about never having anxious thoughts. It’s about not letting those thoughts steal the moments that matter most.

If you’ve been feeling like anxiety is taking you away from the motherhood you want to experience, you’re not alone. And it doesn’t have to stay this way. 🤍

Iconic. Fearless. Heroic. The greatest of all time.
Moms. Obviously. 👑
But specifically — the moms who are learning to harness their own awesomeness.
The ones who used to shrink themselves and are learning to stand tall.
The ones who used to apologize for everything and are learning their worth.
The ones who gave endlessly to everyone else and are finally — finally — putting themselves on the list too.
Self-esteem isn’t something you either have or you don’t.
It’s something you build.
One brave choice at a time.
One boundary at a time.
One moment of choosing yourself at a time.
And moms? You are building something beautiful. 🤍

She said it so casually. Like it was no big deal. And for her — it wasn’t. For my nervous system? Entirely different story. 😅
Here’s the thing about anxious moms — we don’t worry because we’re weak or overprotective or dramatic.
We worry because somewhere along the way our brain decided that if we thought of every possible thing that could go wrong — we could prevent it.
But here’s what I also know:
That 11-year-old needs to walk to the park.
They need to navigate small pieces of the world without us.
They need to build the confidence that only comes from doing things independently.
And we need to let them — even when every part of our anxious brain is watching the front window.
That tension between loving them fiercely and letting them grow? That’s not a flaw.
That’s just being a mom. 🤍

Everyone knows anxiety can be based in fear & worrying. But for moms who give and give and give? It can look like this too. 🥹
It looks like texting the camp counselor twice just to make sure the sunscreen actually got applied.
It looks like lying awake wondering if your kid is having fun, making friends, or quietly scared in their bunk and you aren’t there.
It looks like feeling guilty for sitting down for five minutes before the kitchen is spotless.
It looks like putting your own haircut, checkup, or break “on the list” for six months straight.
This isn’t selflessness. It’s a nervous system that forgot it’s allowed to be on the list too.
You cannot give from a cup you never refill. And you are allowed to refill it — without earning it first, without waiting for everyone else to be taken care of, without guilt attached.
Tag a mom who needs this today — or save it for the day you need the reminder yourself. 🤍

I have lost count of how many times I have heard these words in my therapy office. 🥹
‘I don’t want to make a big deal out of it.’ ‘I’m probably overreacting.’ ‘I shouldn’t still be upset about this.’ ‘Other people have it worse.’
Every single one of them was said by a woman who was in genuine pain. Every single one of them said as an apology for feeling it.
And every single time I want to stop and ask:
Who taught you that your feelings needed a disclaimer? Who taught you that your pain had to be justified before it was allowed to exist? Who taught you that other people’s suffering had to be worse than yours before you could admit you were hurting?
And most importantly —
What would change if you finally let it be a big deal?
I think you already know the answer. And I think that answer scares you a little. Which is exactly why it matters. 🤍
