Get to Know Your Caregiver

Amy Davis is a nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) at SSM Health Monroe Hospital. She helps patients with admissions for Cath Lab procedures, offers bedside care during procedures, and assists with discharge home.

Q: What made you want to work in health care?
A: My younger sister was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and thought I would really like doing that work too. Once I started working as a CNA, I knew health care was the right fit for me – I’ve always enjoyed helping people.

Q: What made you want to work in the Cath Lab?
A: I started learning about the Cath lab when I cared for inpatient cardiac patients at SSM Health Monroe Hospital. The staff who worked in the Cath lab were so knowledgeable and told me all about new techniques and technologies that were evolving. I was interested in it and decided to learn more. It has been a great fit.

Q: What do you most enjoy about working at SSM Health?
A: I love working in the community that I live in. I work hard to ensure everyone receives the best care and is informed.

Q: What do you wish patients knew about the Cath Lab or cardiac care?
A: Please come to the ER the first time you experience any unexplained chest pain or discomfort! Waiting until "tomorrow" or "when I'm not so busy" can cause permanent damage to heart muscle. We see this happening far too often.

Q: Where are you from?
A: Right here in Monroe - I was born at Monroe hospital! I’ve been married for 22 years and have 3 children. We have strong connections in the community, and I feel privileged to help our friends and neighbors.

We loved hosting Aubrey - thank you for learning more about what health care careers are all about!

One of our students was able to career shadow in the medical field recently!

Aubrey shadowed an SSM Psychologist, Dr.Brown, and came prepared with great questions and learned a lot about various specialties within the field, educational/career tracks, and some insights regarding patient care. 👩‍⚕️🏥

They said they really enjoyed their conversations with her and are thrilled to have such a wonderful individual pursing a career in behavioral health!
