We are proud to celebrate Erin Kettle, RN in Gastroenterology, for being recognized with a DAISY Award for exceptional patient care and unwavering compassion!

Erin was nominated by Michele Schiess, who described her as a real-life superhero after guiding her husband Brian through a difficult and uncertain medical journey.

From coordinating referrals to keeping specialists and providers informed, Erin went above and beyond every step of the way.

"Erin consistently followed through on every promise, always keeping us updated in a timely manner. The clear communication let us know exactly what to expect at each step. I realize Erin was likely balancing care for many patients over the course of several days, but to us, it felt as though we were the only ones under her care. Applications are now open for our fall Club Scrub session! Club Scrub, a FREE after school program, is designed to introduce 8th grade students to a variety of healthcare careers through hands on activities and interactions with healthcare professionals.

Club Scrub will start on October 7 and end of December 16 with a graduation ceremony. Each session will be held on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at SSM Health Monroe Hospital.

Is your child ready to start babysitting? We are partnering with the Green County Family YMCA to prepare students in grades 6th – 8th to stay safe at home, care for younger siblings, and build babysitting skills with confidence!

Topics include childcare basics, safety & first aid, emergency response, and leadership & responsibility.

The class is on September 12 from 8 am to 2:30 pm at the Green County Family YMCA in Monroe. Cost is $60 for YMCA members and $80 for non-members. Registration is required by September 5.

As students head back to the classroom, clear vision can make a big difference in their success!

Children don't always realize they're experiencing vision problems. Some challenges that look like trouble focusing, avoiding reading or difficulty paying attention may actually be related to vision. A comprehensive eye exam can help identify concerns that may not be detected through a basic vision screening, giving children the support they need to thrive at school and beyond.

"Early detection allows eye care providers to intervene before vision concerns begin affecting a child's everyday life," shared Dr. Wendy Huang, optometrist at SSM Health Eye Care.

Regular exams are also important for children who already wear glasses or contacts to ensure their prescription is up to date.

We had a great time at the Green County Community Baby Shower last Saturday! Michele and Alicia from Family Birth shared important information about counterfeit car seats and how parents can ensure their child's seat meets safety standards. A special thank you to our community health specialist, Rachel, who was part of the team that planned this great event. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn, ask questions, and celebrate growing families in our community.
