Join us in welcoming our newest counselor, Micah Wright-who is also helping us start our newest location, Foley Al!
Micah is an ordained elder in the Alabama-West Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church and a Licensed Professional Counselor. Micah double-majored in Religion and Psychology at Huntingdon College and went on to complete his Master of Divinity at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. Following this, he received his Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of South Alabama.
Micah currently serves as a pastor at Foley United Methodist Church in Foley, AL and has worked to develop bridges between the church and mental health for several years. As a therapist, Micah has worked in private practice, a community mental health clinic, and as a crisis and trauma therapist at a children’s psychiatric hospital. He also has experience as a healthcare chaplain at Atlanta’s Tier-1 Trauma Center. Micah specializes in crisis and trauma intervention, religious/spiritual identity and hurt, and interpersonal relationships.
Recognizing that each individual has unique experiences and benefits from a personalized approach, Micah adapts his therapeutic approach based on a person’s specific needs. He draws on interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Reality Therapy for an integrative and holistic approach.
In his free time, Micah enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, adventuring outdoors, working on projects, travelling, and playing music.
