Before The Healing Place the majority of the children/teens:

Have difficulty talking about the deceased loved one/death of loved one
Experience anger, guilt
Have difficulty sleeping
Have a hard time concentrating on schoolwork
Feel alone, like they are the only one grieving

After The Healing Place the majority of the children/teens:

Are able to talk about the death of their loved one
Learn healthy ways to resolve anger and guilt
Sleeping improves
Schoolwork improves
Do not feel alone anymore

Join us for our Annual Hope for the Holidays Event!

When the Holidays Hurt: The Healing Place Offers Support for Those Living with Loss. The Healing Place: A Center for Loss and Change will host Hope for the Holidays on November 10 at 6:00 p.m. to provide support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals grieving the death of a loved one during the holiday season.

The event will feature two guest speakers: Cayron Mann Snodgrass, Licensed Professional Counselor with Three Cord Counseling, and Elysia Ergle, Licensed Professional Counselor with Phoenix Counseling and Resources. Both speakers will share insight and resources to help attendees understand and navigate the unique challenges of grief during the holidays.

We have an exciting Thank You Thursday announcement!

The Healing Place is a recipient of a New York Life Foundation Grief Reach Capacity Building Grant, supporting organizational strengthening to better serve grieving children and families. With support from a Grief Reach Capacity Building Grant, The Healing Place is strengthening systems, strategies, and partnerships that enhance long-term support for children and families experiencing grief.

As a Grief Reach Capacity Building grantee we are supported through philanthropic investment by the New York Life Foundation and administered by the National Alliance for Children’s Grief. This grant supports critical organizational development work—such as planning, infrastructure, and systems strengthening—designed to ensure sustainable, high-quality bereavement support for children and families.

We are so grateful to New York Life Insurance Company Foundation and NACG National Alliance for Children's Grief for the helping The Healing Place further our mission to provide grief support and education to children and families who have suffered a loss through this amazing grant program.

Today we extend a special THANK YOU to the Shoals Area Master’s Gardners!

The Shoals Area Master Gardners have exemplified service by tidying up our flower beds! They have helped make The Healing Place a more beautiful and welcoming space for all who come for grief support and education.

We are so grateful for the continued support and help from community members in the area. Without their kindness and consideration The Healing Place could not continue to carry out our mission of providing grief support and education to children and families who have experienced the loss of a special person in their lives.

🌟THP has a snack shortage! We are hoping some of our friends and supporters can help us out!

🌟We are currently accepting donations for snack food items to be available for our children and families when they visit us! Most snack food items will do- if your kids like it, ours probably will too!

🌟To donate: Order directly from our Amazon Wishlist and items will be delivered directly to us OR drop off any items at our office in Muscle Shoals! We are located at 2409 Wildwood St. Muscle Shoals, AL 35661. Our office hours are Monday-Thursday from 9-3. If you need to drop off items at a different time, feel free to message us so we can make sure someone is available!

✨THANK YOU THURSDAY✨

We have a super special Thank You Thursday to highlight today! We must extend a massive and heartfelt THANK YOU to LSB Industries for making The Healing Place the beneficiary of their 2nd annual LSB Industries Golf Tournament.

LSB Industries, in partnership with community donors, sponsors, and supporters, raised over $11,000 for The Healing Place. These funds will go directly to serving area children and families who have suffered a loss. We truly cannot express the appropriate amount of gratitude to LSB Industries for this amazing event and contribution.

We must also give a super special shoutout to LSB Industries employee and member of The Healing Place Family, Denise Garcia. Denise has been an incredible supporter and advocate of The Healing Place and was paramount in making the LSB Industries Golf Tournament a success.

Again we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for helping us bring hope and healing to the hearts of children and families who have experienced a loss.

‼️GROUP NIGHT IS THURSDAY‼️

💙 We are so excited to see everyone THURSDAY (October 22nd) for a Grief Support Group!

💙 Group will begin at 5:30 with dinner!

💙 At 6pm we will separate into our four age groups: littles, middles, teens, and adults.

💙 Group will end at 7pm! Please be ready for pick-up at 7.

💙 We would love to have any children and families in need of grief support join us!

💙Adult Grief Support Group💙

THP is offering an Adult Grief Support Group TODAY, Monday, October 19th, at 12 pm.

This group is open to ANY adult who has or is experiencing grief. This group is in addition to our bi-weekly all ages support group. Any adults are welcome to join us regardless of type of loss or previous THP involvement. We hope to continue offering this group monthly to meet the need of adults experiencing grief in our community.

RSVP is not required to participate in this group but is encouraged. To RSVP you may call our office at 256-383-7133, email [email protected], or message us directly.
