Meet Holly DiGilarmo ๐
In July 2018, Holly was diagnosed with Stage 2 ER/PR+ HER2- breast cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes. Already navigating the challenges of being displaced after Hurricane Irma, she faced chemotherapy, radiation, multiple surgeries, and five years of hormone therapy with incredible courage.
After her diagnosis, Holly was referred to Dr. Sharla Patterson, who became a trusted source of support throughout her treatment journey.
"Dr. Sharla Patterson was a beacon of light through treatment and treated me like I was a friend or family member. At this point, I know I'm both a friend and a Magnolia Breast Center family member."
Throughout her journey, Holly leaned on her care team, family, and friends -and found strength she never knew she had.
Today, survivorship means appreciating life's simple moments, spending time with loved ones, and giving back to others in our community facing cancer.
Her advice to anyone newly diagnosed: " Lean on your care team and community resources. Be honest about how you're feeling because help is there for you. Be brave and know you are not alone." ๐ธ
Thank you, Holly, for sharing your story and inspiring others with your strength, resilience, and hope.
Join us in celebrating Holly by leaving a message of encouragement in the comments, or share her story with someone who may need a little hope today โจ
