This recognition reflects the dedication, compassion, and excellence of our entire team. Every staff member plays an essential role in creating an environment where nurses feel valued, supported, and empowered to provide exceptional care.

Last Sunday, we participated in the APDA Walk, an initiative to improve the lives of individuals living with Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson's disease is the fastest growing neurodegenerative disease in the world, totaling approximately 90,000 new diagnoses every year.

As an organization dedicated to specialized rehabilitation, neurological care, and community wellness, we were honored to stand besides those navigating Parkinson's every day, including one of our patients, John Root, who had the honor of cutting the starting ribbon.

Events like these remind us of our mission and why we are so passionate about doing what we do. And a special thank you to our incredible team who walked at this incredible event!

The Lotus Award recognizes members of our rehab team — PT, OT, SLP, and TR staff — for exemplary patient care and dedication. This past month, we were proud to honor Colleen Doyle for her outstanding work and unwavering commitment to our patients.

Colleen’s journey with HFSC began in 1986, though her connection to our organization started even earlier as a student. Throughout her career, she has worked across several hospital units and currently serves primarily on CMU and MRU. Colleen is also the only therapist to have received the Lotus Award more than once, which is a true testament to the lasting impact she has on those around her.

Known for her compassion, humor, and engaging personality, Colleen consistently goes above and beyond for her patients and colleagues alike. One patient’s family member shared:

“Colleen demonstrates every day what we would all like to see in a person: a big heart, a love of her job, and a commitment to her patient’s success... I have never seen a healthcare professional so dedicated to her task.”

Thank you, Colleen, for the extraordinary care, kindness, and dedication you bring to HFSC every day. We are incredibly fortunate to have you on our team! 💙

Earlier this week, we were awarded the Community Partnership Award, reflecting the outstanding contributions to Western New England University students and support to the Doctoral Experiential Capstone Project.

This award not only showcases our dedication to students and graduates, but our incredible team of therapists who work tirelessly behind the scenes making this achievement possible. Without them, we wouldn't be recognized for this prestigious award. A special shoutout goes to our therapy team: Sara H, Natalie R, Jenna D, Allison S, and Dorothy V, who play huge roles developing this program.

Thank you so much to Western New England University for this honor and for supporting partnerships that strengthen our communities.

Earlier this week, we found a lost visitor roaming through the halls. We asked him where his family was, and while he wasn't a man of many words, we could tell he was missing his family.

Does Mr. Dino (name still pending) belong to you? Send us a DM and we will make sure you are reunited! If not, share this post to help him find his home!

Last night, we honored employees whose service to HFSC reached special milestones, ranging from five, all the way to forty years of dedication to our organization. From heartfelt speeches to punny poems , everybody left with a sense of pride and connection with each other and HFSC.

Thank you to all of the honorees for your time, work, and true dedication to HFSC. As Kelly, our VP of HR, so accurately described last night, "It's not just longevity, it's legacy."
