We’re often taught that some emotions are “good” and others are “bad.”

But emotions don’t actually work that way. They’re signals, messengers, and, teachers.

Instead of pushing them away, what might happen if we paused and asked: What is this emotion trying to tell me?

Mental health struggles don’t always look the way we expect. This month, we’re talking about what struggling might look like because it’s not always obvious, and it’s never something you have to navigate alone 💛

Our founder Alex Hamlet just returned from at Sea, and she’s bringing major inspiration back to shore with her!

After four immersive days of connection, ideas, and growth among thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and creatives, she returned with a renewed sense of clarity and a reminder that resonates deeply with the work we do: the most transformative change rarely happens alone. It happens in community, when we’re brave enough to show up and say yes to the people who expand us 🫶🏻

Lauren Glazin, AMFT, debunks some of the most common myths about couples therapy:

- We only need therapy if we’re on the brink of breaking up
- The therapist will take sides
- Couples therapy doesn’t actually work

The reality? Couples therapy isn’t just for when things are hard, it’s there to help couples build skills to navigate challenges before they become overwhelming. Sometimes the strongest relationships are the ones that are willing to be proactive.

We recently gathered to celebrate two special members of our hamlet, Laura Felman and Emily Small, as they prepare to step into a new chapter, motherhood 🤍

We’re so grateful for the care, presence, and heart they bring to their work every day, and we can’t wait to see them bring that same warmth into this next season of life.

Wishing you both so much joy, rest, and support in the months ahead ✨

When we label our emotions, we shift our brain activity. The amygdala, our brain’s threat detection center, reacts reflexively when we experience strong emotions. But when we pause to notice and name what we’re feeling, we activate the prefrontal cortex, which helps us move from reacting to processing.

These two parts of the brain don’t tend to be equally active at the same time—they often work like a see-saw.

Sometimes, simply putting a label on what you’re feeling can create enough space to respond, rather than react.

College decision season can be an emotionally intense time for students. Excitement, anxiety, comparison, and fear about the future can all show up at once.

This moment can feel huge, but it’s just one step in a much longer journey! And remember your worth is not determined by an admissions board.

Comparing yourself to someone else can make it feel like you’re falling behind, but there is no universal schedule for growth or major milestones.

Remember, everyone’s life unfolds differently, and being “on your own timeline” doesn’t mean you’re late, it means you’re living your life in a way that is authentic to you. 🌱🧡

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to center around romance to be meaningful.

Connection can live in friendship, laughter, community, self-care, or shared joy. And you get to choose what connection looks like for you 🫶🏻💕
