Teeth are always looking for a reason to shift.
The moment your retainer isn't in, the pressure from your lips, cheeks, and tongue starts nudging things back to where they used to be. It doesn't take months. It can start happening in days.
After a week without your retainer, you might notice it feels tight when you put it back in. That's not nothing β that's movement.
The good news? If you catch it early and your retainer still fits (even if it's snug), wear it consistently and you can usually get back on track. But if too much time has passed and it no longer fits at all, you may need a new one β or in some cases, additional treatment.
You put in all that work. Protect it. π¦·
If your retainer doesn't fit anymore, come see us β we'll figure out the best next step together. First visit is always free.
