Sweet 16 long miles 🏃🏾‍♀️🤗

From Battery Park to the West Side Highway to Central Park (my happy place😀) tackling Cat Hill 🐈‍⬛ and the Three Sisters 👯‍♀️ , yesterday’s run was strong 💪🏾 from start to finish.
I deliberately started out conservatively because as our pacer Kathy reminded us, “We do negative splits around here”💅🏾
And negative splits we did! Closed out the last few miles about a minute faster than we started.

Great way to end week 7 of NYC Marathon training.

Sweet 16 miles done ✅ & dusted ✌🏾

Is it really marathon training if you’re having this much fun? 😂

Tuesday night’s track workout with Nike Project Moonshot at Icahn Stadium took me back to some of my favorite NRC running days.

From meeting everyone uptown and getting shuttled 🚌 over to Icahn Stadium, to seeing so many familiar faces, a live DJ, perfect weather and the best energy from start to finish🙌🏾 The whole night was a vibe💃🏾

We had 20 x 200m repeats, which is a lot but we moved through them so fast 💨

We ran. We danced. We laughed. We worked. And somehow it never really felt like work.

Can we please make every speed workout feel like this?! There’s a reason I never ever used to miss a track workout. A time was had 🤗

Project Moonshot, let’s run it back!

“Shout out to the friends who could outpace you, but choose to run beside you instead.”🥰

Day 37 of NYC Marathon Training: 14+ mile long run to the beach 🏖️
I have been looking forward to this run for a few weeks. A point to point run from Brooklyn to Rockaway Beach🏖️ Plans were made, the weather app was stalked(rain was in the forecast), and then it was go time. But alas! There were hiccups. One friend bailed😢 and I got lost and missed my train😩 Thankfully a yellow cab saved the day. The weather was warm & cloudy but no rain🙌🏾 The plan: chill at a conversational pace with my friend Jo Joedy ✨ and then she would speed up in the end.
We talked, laughed and reminisced our way from Brooklyn to Queens. Unlocking memories from our teenage and College years in Brooklyn.
Around the 10 mile mark, I told her to go ahead because I knew I was holding her speedy legs back. Plus, she only had to do 12 miles and I wanted to cruise to the end. Once we hit the boardwalk, I was excited for the beach and ready to be done. I saw a group ahead that I thought was ours and started to celebrate by dumping the rest of my water on myself. Only to realize, it wasn’t our group👀
I checked my watch and I was over 14 miles so, where was everyone?🤷🏾‍♀️ I ran into a friend along the boardwalk and stopped to chat. He told me he saw my group running further the down. I checked my Watch again and wondered if my GPS was off. Also, my stomach was starting to cramp from having a full bladder😭 thankfully after a few minutes, I saw another group from our pace team and jumped in.
They told me I stopped too early😝
Turns out it wasn’t a 14 mile run, it was actually 14.70 miles! I completely missed the announcement. My fault🤦🏾‍♀️ I ran the remaining stretch with them and been strong. Then it was time for some food and fun🤗 we were treated to burgers and fries and a bucket hat. Which came in clutch because the sun came out!
I spent the remainder of afternoon beach maxxing 🏖️🍹😎 it was a perfect end to a solid long run.

She’s a 10!😀

This run was everything!

Great route ✔️
Great pacing ✔️
Great squad ✔️
My body felt great ✔️
And the post-run brunch and hangout with my friends? Also a 10 🤗

No lie. The entire day was a 10/10👌🏾

I know every long run isn’t going to feel this good because marathon training will marathon train🤪But I’m taking this win and carrying this confidence straight into next week.

10 mile long run ✔️

Which max-cushion shoe would you have picked?

It was a recovery run day and I had three options:
▶️Nike Vomero Premium
▶️Tracksmith Eliot Ryder
▶️Saucony Paramount Max

I went with the Saucony Paramount Max. They’re cushioned, bouncy and responsive, but the breathability was a big deciding factor because this heat and humidity was not playing with me🥵😩

I’ve been putting some miles on them, so stay tuned for my full Saucony Paramount Max review.

Do you rotate your running shoes? What’s your favorite max-cushion shoe right now? 👇🏾

Your girl went from baby blue to blue-gray in less than an hour😂🥵

Today’s “easy” recovery run started at 85°F with 80% humidity and ended at 90°F with 70% humidity🫠
By the time I got home, everything was soaked 💦

At some point, complaining about summer running stops making sense. You just have to adjust.

Adjust your pace. Adjust your expectations. Adjust your hydration. And keep showing up💪🏾

We’ve got about six more weeks of summer marathon training before the weather starts to cool off🤞🏾

Road running etiquette 101 🏃🏾‍♀️
Teaching my little runners early that if people are coming toward you, or you wanna go around them, go single file.

Whether you’re running with two people or 20, we all have to share the road, sidewalk and path👍🏾

What’s one running etiquette rule you wish everyone knew? 👇🏾

12 mile long run 🏃🏾‍♀️ ✅

The good news 📰 Summer Streets NYC is back! 12 miles of car free streets from Brooklyn Bridge to 110th Street🙌🏾
It is one of my favorite programs in the city because it’s just so cool and fun! 😀
The bad news 📰 The heat & humidity won this week😩
The first half of this run was fantastic! But on the turnaround by mile 8, it felt like someone put a magnifying glass on the city🥵 We had to make a couple of extra water stops to hydrate and cool our skin off. I would’ve done anything to have one of those Beyonce production stage fans 🌬️ 😆

Anywho our group stuck together and got it done 💪🏾

One of the hardest parts of marathon training for me is doing speed workouts in the Summer ☀️
It’s always too hot 🥵 too humid 🥵and hard😩
Today’s 1km repeats really had me questioning my life choices🤪
Anywho, I got it done ✅ 💪🏾

What’s the hardest part of marathon training for you?

This is the situation on every run with my youngest. She wants to pet every single dog 🐶 she sees🤣
Meanwhile my oldest is 200m ahead wondering why we are taking so long🤪
I guess she’ll have to settle for the short fun runner🤷🏾‍♀️😝

Anyone else’s kid do this?
