This workshop will give participants readily applicable experiential techniques to treat trauma and self-hatred. Learn dialogue strategies for:

Inner Critic
Self-Hatred
Inner Complexity
Development of Self-Compassion

This workshop will also introduce participants to our “Two Critics Model,” a way of understanding these critics as an internalization of social and familial messages (Internalized Abuser) and the other understanding the Critic as developing early in childhood as a strategy for survival (Protector Critic).

Participants will learn how to practice Chairwork via clinical storytelling, unrehearsed, live clinical demonstrations, and group practice.

“Treating Trauma Using Chairwork and Parts Work” will give participants readily applicable experiential techniques to treat even the most difficult trauma cases. Participants will learn how to practice Chairwork and Parts Work via clinical storytelling and unrehearsed, live clinical demonstrations.

In this two-half day online workshop we will explore the use of dialogue strategies for these common challenges:
- Traumatic Memories
- Unresolved Grief
- Abusive Relationships and Childhood Mistreatment
- Problematic Coping Modes

We will also review Chairwork Teletherapy guidelines.

The pain of the heart is a central concern in psychotherapy. It is rooted both within and between us—in what goes on inside of us and in what unfolds in our relationships with others.

Issues like estrangement, betrayal, grief, ambiguous loss, and mistreatment are painful yet universal experiences. It is important that clinicians have effective ways to support and be with these types of deep heartbreak and pain.

Our next online workshop, “Dialogues from the Heart,” will give participants immediately useful clinical strategies for these issues.

In this Chairwork Psychotherapy workshop, we will draw on the wisdom of Psychodrama, Gestalt Therapy, and the Four Dialogues to explore powerful ways of helping people heal broken, damaged, and traumatized hearts.

Topics covered will include:
• Grief and Loss – Using Role Reversal dialogues (Sadness)
• Mistreatment and Abuse – Using Confrontation Dialogues (Anger and Fear)
• Difficult Relationships – Using Role Reversal and Self-Doubling (Frustration)
• Mixed Feelings – Using Rhombic Dialogues (Ambivalence)
• Change and Betrayal – Using Vector Dialogues (Shock)
