At ICL, we know that whole health includes access to preventive care. Yet many women continue to face barriers to breast cancer screenings. According to the CDC, screening disparities persist among socioeconomically disadvantaged groups, particularly women with low incomes and those without health insurance.

Through a partnership with Community Healthcare Network, ICL is helping eligible members connect to breast cancer screenings while providing hands-on support every step of the way, helping remove barriers that can stand in the way of early detection and care.

As Astrid Leonard, Vice President of Health Homes, explains: “When we meet people where they are and remove barriers to care, we create more opportunities for them to take charge of their health. That's what makes initiatives like this so meaningful.”

Last month, we took some time to celebrate our amazing staff at Employee Appreciation Day! 💛

With our teams working across all five boroughs, it was great to bring so many colleagues together for good food, dancing, self-care, and some well-deserved time to connect.

The work we do every day is only possible because of our staff. We’re grateful for everything they do for the people and communities we serve.

Preventing unnecessary involvement in the criminal justice system starts with ensuring people have access to mental health care and support before a crisis occurs. 💙

In a new article for Behavioral Health News, ICL's Senior Vice President of Care Management, Laura Savino, LCSW, explores how a strong continuum of community-based behavioral health care can help reduce unnecessary justice involvement.

Through programs like Intensive Mobile Treatment (IMT), Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), and Step-down Treatment Ensures Personal Success (STEPS), ICL helps New Yorkers access treatment, build stability, and maintain support as their needs evolve.

With the help of our recent Job Fair at The Atlantic, people had the opportunity to connect with workforce partners, learn about available resources, and explore employment opportunities.

Whole health is about more than simply providing clinical care. Having access to clothing, and the ability to choose items for yourself, can help people feel more prepared for whatever comes next.

Our latest Clothing Distribution event held at our East New York Health HUB provided community members access to a wide variety of clothing and the opportunity to choose items for themselves.

We are grateful to the ICL staff whose generous donations helped bring this event to life.

Recovery isn't something people have to navigate alone.

This National Recovery Month, we're highlighting the impact of the Hope & Recovery Center at the East New York Health HUB, where people can access substance use treatment, peer support, and other services designed to support long-term recovery.

As one client shared, "This program didn't just save my life. It restored my dignity, reunited my family, and showed me that healing is entirely possible."

The impact is also reflected in our 2025 client survey. At the Hope & Recovery Center:

• 100% feel safe and secure at the program
• 100% are satisfied with the care they receive
• 100% would recommend ICL to others
• 95% feel comfortable sharing feedback and concerns

Recovery is about more than treatment. It's about having support that meets people where they are and helps them move forward with confidence and hope.

💙 September is National Recovery Month, a time to recognize that recovery is possible and to celebrate the journeys that make it real. Recovery can look different for everyone, but it often creates space for people to pursue goals that once felt out of reach.

Lui's recovery journey led him to become a published author. Inspired by his own experience navigating depression, he wrote two books and later returned to his former high school to share his story. One of his proudest milestones was seeing his book added to the school's library.

Reflecting on the support he received from ICL's Intensive Mobile Treatment (IMT) team, Lui shared, "They'll never give up on you."

This National Recovery Month, we're celebrating stories like Lui's that show what's possible when people have the support, resources, and opportunities to pursue their goals.

On World Su***de Prevention Day, we recognize the importance of connection, compassion, and creating spaces where people feel safe to seek help.

Through our ongoing su***de prevention efforts, including the recent expansion of our Zero Su***de Initiative, ICL is working to strengthen access to compassionate, evidence-based care and deepen the connections that help people navigate difficult moments. The initiative will help expand training, enhance clinical services, and strengthen su***de prevention efforts across ICL.

Together, we can help reduce stigma and ensure that people know they are not alone.
