Drs. William and Kristin Foley Participate in Osteopathic Cranial Academy Annual Conference
This June, Drs. William and Kristin Foley traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana, to attend the Osteopathic Cranial Academy’s (OCA) annual conference, Development of Cranium and Face: Newborn to Adult. The conference brought together osteopathic physicians from across the country for an in-depth exploration of cranial development throughout the human lifespan, combining the latest understanding of anatomy, physiology, and osteopathic principles with extensive hands-on learning.

In addition to participating in the educational sessions, Drs. Foley served as table trainers throughout the conference. In this role, they assisted participants in mastering the hands-on osteopathic cranial techniques and treatment modalities presented by the faculty. Table trainers play a vital role in helping attendees refine their palpatory skills and deepen their understanding of the concepts being taught, ensuring that participants can confidently apply these approaches in clinical practice.

The conference also provided an opportunity to look ahead to the future of osteopathic cranial education. Dr. William Foley delivered a presentation introducing the Osteopathic Cranial Academy’s 2027 annual conference, for which he will serve as Program Chair. The conference, titled Communicating with the Living Digestive System, will explore the dynamic relationship between the digestive system and the body’s self-regulatory mechanisms through the lens of osteopathic medicine.

Dr. Foley’s presentation offered attendees an early glimpse into the innovative themes and educational opportunities planned for the 2027 meeting. As Program Chair, he is working with leading educators and clinicians to develop a program that will provide participants with both scientific insight and practical clinical applications.

Drs. William and Kristin Foley are honored to contribute to the advancement of osteopathic cranial medicine through their teaching, mentorship, and ongoing involvement with the Osteopathic Cranial Academy. Dr. Kristin and William Foley teach at the annual ASSSG course.
On April 25-26, 2026, the Drs. Foley help train 47 osteopathic students and physicians. The course presented was “The Upper Extremity and Trunk”. It is part of a series of four courses offered annually by A Still – Sutherland Study Group. The group was established in 1986 with Anne Wales, DO, FCA as our mentor. Course participants will received hands-on-hands instruction from our excellent faculty with a 1:4 teacher to student ratio. The goal was to deepen our skill and perception using the powers within the patient’s body.

William M. Foley, DO, MSc, the 2026 American Academy of Osteopathy’s Convocation Program Chair
The AAO annual Convocation is the largest meeting of Osteopaths that specialize in traditional Osteopathy. Attendance set records for the AAO in the past decade, and feedback from attendees has been very positive.

This program was organized by the long-time CTO Faculty members William Foley DO MSc (AAO Convocation Program Chair in 2026), and Stefan Hagopian DO FAAO (AAO President for the year). Other CTO Faculty who presented lectures and/or workshops included Donald Hankinson DO FCA, Deb Heath DO, Greg Yesensky DO MS, and Kathryn Gill MD FCA, in addition to many other outstanding speakers and mentors who had studied for years or decades with Dr. James Jealous and/or Dr. Anne Wales.

The strong emphasis on clinical principles and practical teachings of traditional osteopathy was impossible to miss. All presentations were clearly delivered from the heart, with scientific rigor and extensive clinical experience by a faculty of individuals who were almost all in full-time practice of osteopathy and self-employed in their respective communities. Everyone in attendance was graced by a palpable honesty and openness in every presentation, while this faculty one-by-one attempted to convey a path toward mastery of technique, precision, and perception in the science of osteopathy.

Biobasics Spain 2026
February 6–7, 2026 | Barcelona, Spain

On February 6 and 7, 2026, Bill Foley, D.O. was invited to participate in Biobasics Spain in Barcelona under the direction of Raul Castillo Acosta and the leadership of Maria Parareda, Jordi Cid, and Christian Sullivan. This annual postgraduate gathering offers osteopaths an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the work of A.T. Still, founder of Osteopathy, W.G. Sutherland, and James Jealous. Dr. Foley lectured on the Fluid Body and served as a table trainer alongside an ensemble of highly skilled European osteopaths, contributing to a collaborative and vibrant field of study.

Biodynamic Osteopathy has grown internationally since the 1980s, with formal biodynamic curricula and Biobasics courses now established in countries including the United States, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. The Barcelona program reflects this international development, maintaining a two-student-per-tutor ratio. Each tutor is a fully qualified and registered osteopath who has completed the seven phases of biodynamic training, ensuring depth, clarity, and continuity within the teaching.

Although this weekend is not one of the formal biodynamic phases, it serves as an introduction to Traditional Osteopathy emerging from the biodynamic curriculum of Dr. James Jealous. Rooted in shared ideals and mutual support, the course brings together osteopaths committed to refining perception, strengthening community, and further developing osteopathy in alignment with its original principles and living tradition.

Osteopathic Pathways from Emotion to Inflammation
January 31–February 2, 2026 | Barcelona, Spain

Set in Barcelona, Spain, from January 31 to February 2, 2026, Osteopathic Pathways from Emotion to Inflammation: The Crossroads of Brain, Heart, Gut, and the Tide brought together advanced practitioners for a dynamic exploration of the emotional and physiological continuum through the lens of cranial and biodynamic osteopathy. Taught by Bill Foley, D.O., with Kristin Foley, D.O. serving as table instructor, the course invited osteopaths to examine the subtle relationships linking the nervous system, viscera, and emotional centers of the human being. Grounded in living anatomy and guided by the Breath of Life, participants refined their capacity to perceive the fluid body and its inherent therapeutic forces.

Through lecture and hands-on engagement, the program explored perception and living anatomy, the vagus nerve as an anti-inflammatory mediator and its relationship to brain stem facilitation, the amygdala and emotional reorganization, the enteric nervous system as the so-called second brain, and a revisiting of the cranial vault. The continuity between brain, heart, and gut was examined as an expression of the Tide, reminding participants that the work is not technique but an invitation to listen deeply.

Throughout the course, emphasis was placed on perceptual development, learning to receive rather than do, to listen rather than fix. In alignment with the biodynamic model, practitioners attuned to Primary Respiration, the movement of the Long Tide, and the organizing presence of the Midline. Designed for osteopaths called to work at the interface of body, mind, and spirit, the course supported a deeper understanding of how unresolved defense and inflammation may reorganize toward health through stillness, neutrality, and the wisdom of the living body.
