Elementary school career fair day! Loved getting to talk about the ways PiVT Lab intersects sport and mental health, and to brag on the incredible work my friend Megan is doing at HOOPS. I am a firm believer that relationships are the cornerstone of women’s sports, and I’m grateful to be investing in the next generation alongside other women in this space.

One of my favorite parts of today was meeting a few kids who had never played basketball before and getting to teach them how to dribble. Introducing someone to a game that can have such a profound impact on confidence, character, and connection is something I didn’t realize I’d get to experience today.

I still remember Tucker Neale () showing me some ball handling moves on the sideline when I was in 3rd or 4th grade, and how motivating that felt. Funny how those small moments stay with you. And later on at the YMCA 😜

Grateful for connections that made/make us believe we can grow.

At PIVT Lab, we’re obsessed with showing up.

But if we’re being honest— most of us weren’t taught how.

We tie our identity to outcomes. We think if the results disappear… so do we.

I learned that the hard way.

When my career as a collegiate athlete shifted because of injury, I didn’t know how to pivot. So I did what a lot of us do— I resisted it. I forced it. I faked it.

And it made everything heavier.

Because the real problem isn’t our circumstances.
It’s that we don’t know how to work with them.

We fight reality instead of finding meaning in it.

But meaning is what keeps you steady
when everything else feels uncertain.

That’s the shift.

Learning to show up anyway— to chip away, even when you don’t feel like it, to build something with what you’ve been given.

That’s what separates people who stay stuck
from people who move forward.

And that’s the work we do every day.

Most people think leadership is about saying the right thing.

It’s not.

It’s about knowing what’s happening in the moment—
in the room, in the team, in yourself—
and having the capacity to not make it worse.

That’s regulation.

Because when you’re leading: You don’t get to outsource your nervous system.

If your athlete is spiraling
If your team is off
If emotions are high

…and you match that energy?

You amplify the problem.

Awareness is step one.
But self-understanding + regulation is what actually changes outcomes.

At PiVT Lab, this is the work:
learning how to stay grounded enough to respond intentionally—
not just react automatically.

Because the best leaders aren’t always the loudest or the smartest.

They’re the most aware and intentional.

Send this to a coach or leader who gets it.

PiVT Lab is proud to partner with Walsh University Women’s Volleyball to provide team mental health and leadership development throughout their season. This year, we are excited to join them and expand that offering out to youth via Walsh Volleyball camps and clinics.

PiVT Lab exists to help athletes grow from the inside out. Our mission is simple: We develop self-aware, emotionally skilled leaders and teams through evidence-based tools and relational connection. We believe that the earlier the education, the better. DM us with questions and see more/secure your spot at the link in our bio!

The Olympics remind us: there’s no one “right” personality for success.

Alysa Liu—her energy radiates freedom and fun.

Eileen Gu—she thrives in focus, clarity, and control.

Elana Meyers Taylor—grounded, veteran presence carrying perspective and steadiness.

Mikaela Shiffrin—showing up through grief, loss, and meaning, fueled by courage to keep going.

Mental health isn’t about being someone else. It’s about:
✨ noticing what lifts you
✨ understanding what drains you
✨ working WITH your unique wiring, NOT against it

The real win isn’t imitation—it’s alignment.

💡 Save this if you’re learning to honor your energy, your style, and your nervous system.

Effective leaders don’t rely on sarcasm or “tough love.” They know how to give feedback that builds trust, not defense.

At PiVT, we support the reflection, education, and skill-building that turn reactive comments into regulated, clear communication. Because growth doesn’t come from shame — it comes from conversations that actually land.
