Pathway Caring For Children Pathway Caring for Children's mission is to help children and families realize the possibilities of through foster care, adoption, and counseling.

The staff members, volunteers, and foster parents of Pathway seek to make real seven basic ideals in the lives of the children who come to us. Most important, we love and care for each youth individually. We recognize them as persons and teach them to respect themselves and others; provide them with security of knowing that we are here for them; help them find the paths of success in school, work and social relationships; encourage them in the assumption of responsibility for themselves and their actions; and become personally involved with them in their struggle for meaning and purpose in life.

Who says therapy can't be fun?

For children, play is more than just fun. It's how they learn, communicate, express emotions, and make sense of the world around them.

At Pathway Caring for Children, play therapy gives children a safe, supportive space to explore their feelings, build confidence, develop coping skills, and work through challenges in ways that feel natural to them.

🧸 Come take a peek inside Pathway's Jim Bridges Therapy Room!

Filled with toys, games, creativity, and opportunities for self-expression, this welcoming space helps children feel comfortable, connected, and supported as they work toward healing and growth.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful conversations happen without words. 💚

💚 ADHD isn't always what you think.

When we think of ADHD, we often picture a child who can't sit still or has trouble paying attention. But ADHD can look different in every child and teen.

For some, it may look like forgetting everyday tasks, struggling to stay organized, feeling overwhelmed by instructions, or having difficulty finishing what they start.

These challenges can sometimes be mistaken for laziness, defiance, or a lack of motivation. But there's often more happening beneath the behavior.

Instead of asking, "Why won't they?" try asking, "What's getting in their way?"

In recognition of ADHD Awareness Month, Pathway's Mental Health Director, Marcie Girdlestone, LPCC-S, shares how to recognize the signs of ADHD, understand its impact, and know when to seek support.

💚 Understanding makes a difference.

💚 October is ADHD Awareness Month!

ADHD isn't always what you think.

When we think of ADHD, we often picture a child who can't sit still or has trouble paying attention. But ADHD can look different in every child and teen.

It might look like:
-Forgetting homework or everyday belongings
- Struggling to start or finish tasks
-Feeling overwhelmed by multiple instructions
-Losing track of time or having difficulty staying organized
-Becoming easily distracted

These challenges are sometimes mistaken for laziness, defiance, or a lack of motivation. But there may be more happening beneath the behavior.

Instead of asking, "Why won't they?" try asking, "What's getting in their way?"

Every child deserves to feel understood, confident, and supported.

Sometimes, meeting a simple need can make a much bigger difference. 💚

For teens navigating difficult circumstances, having a sense of control and choice can help build confidence when so much of life may feel uncertain.

In this video, Alisha, a Case Manager at Pathway, shares how our Care Cart does more than provide everyday essentials. It gives teens the opportunity to make choices for themselves, while helping Alisha build meaningful relationships and trust with the children and families she serves.

The Care Cart meets a physical need, but creates an even greater opportunity for safety, trust, and connection.

Thanks to supporters like you, Pathway children feel cared for, more confident, and supported, no matter what challenges they may be facing.

Love Makes Room. 💚 And there’s more than one way to make a difference!

Watch as Angie shares the heart behind Love Makes Room, Pathway’s Foster Parent Recruitment Campaign, and how YOU can help children in foster care feel safe, seen, and supported.

How can YOU make room?

🏡 In your home: Become a licensed foster parent and provide a safe, loving place for a child.
💚 In your community: Invite Pathway to your church, workplace, or community group to share the need for foster parents.
📣 In your circle: Help spread the word! Like, comment on, or share Pathway’s posts with friends and family.

You don't have to become a foster parent to make a difference. Every conversation, connection, and share can help us reach someone who is ready to open their home.

When love makes room, more children have the opportunity to feel safe, seen, and supported.
