Peer pressure doesn’t always look like someone saying, “Do drugs.”
Sometimes it sounds like:

👉 “Everyone is doing it.”
👉 “Don’t be lame.”
👉 “Just try it once.”
👉 “Your parents will never know.”
👉 “If you’re really my friend, you will.”

Prepare BEFORE the party. Before the game. Before the sleepover. Before the pressure happens.

Talk to your teen. Set boundaries. Create a safe way home. Make sure they know they can call you—no questions asked in that moment.

And most importantly, keep the conversation going.

Because “Not my kid” isn't a prevention plan.

đź’™ Be informed. Be prepared. Be the parent your child can call when things get hard.

Narc Box was created to help parents start the conversations, stay informed, and be prepared for the “what ifs” of teen life.

💛💙 P2P Coalition — A New Year. A New Direction. ACTION.

Today was more than just our September Pathways to Prevention Coalition meeting.

We took our first coalition picture together — and for me, this picture represents a fresh start. 📸

A new year. New energy. New partnerships. And most importantly, a commitment to turn conversations into ACTION.

We have spent time rebuilding, realigning, and bringing the right people back to the table. Now it’s time to take what we’ve talked about and put it to work in our community.

One of the first areas we are ready to move forward on is supporting efforts around a Smoke-Free Ordinance and having the conversations needed to create healthier, safer spaces for everyone in our community.

And this is only the beginning.

FY27 is going to look different for P2P. We’re strengthening our sectors, recognizing the partners who show up through our new P2P Coalition Spotlight Award, and making sure our coalition is not simply meeting once a month — we are working together toward measurable change.

To everyone who showed up today, brought your voice to the table, and said “I want to be part of this” — thank you.

Look at this picture, because I believe we’re going to look back on it and remember:

This was the year we stopped just talking about what our community needed and started moving it forward. 💛💙

A HUGE thank you to the entire Basin Lighthouse team for bringing a spotlight to us and the work we’re doing in prevention! 💙

This is exactly what Bridge the Basin is about:

🌉 Connecting people.
🤝 Sharing resources.
đź’¬ Starting conversations.
đź’™ Turning connection into action.

When we come together, we create stronger, safer communities—and every conversation can make a difference.

NATIONAL SUBSTANCE USE PRIMARY PREVENTION MONTH
PREVENTION STARTS WITH ALL OF US!!

📜 A PROCLAMATION
NATIONAL SUBSTANCE USE PRIMARY PREVENTION MONTH
August 2026

This August, Basin Lighthouse joins communities across the country in recognizing National Substance Use Primary Prevention Month and renewing our commitment to stopping substance use before it begins.

Primary prevention means reaching people early—before harmful choices become lifelong struggles. Through education, public awareness, positive relationships, healthy alternatives, evidence-based programs, and honest conversations, we can equip individuals and families with the knowledge and support needed to make healthy, substance-free choices.

Every parent, teacher, coach, faith leader, prevention professional, community partner, and caring neighbor has a role in this mission. Prevention does not happen through one program or one conversation. It happens when an entire community works together to protect young people, strengthen families, and build healthier communities.

Basin Lighthouse proudly stands alongside our regional partners to:

• Educate individuals and families about alcohol, to***co, va**ng, ma*****na, fentanyl, and other substances
• Build resilience, refusal skills, and healthy coping strategies
• Provide safe and positive alternatives
• Strengthen families through education and support
• Increase public awareness and access to prevention resources
• Support community-driven prevention efforts
• Prevent substance use before it starts

Throughout August, we call upon the entire Permian Basin to stand united in protecting lives, supporting families, and creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Together, we can shine a light on prevention and build a healthier, safer, and substance-free future for the Basin.
