📦 Helping a parent downsize? The hardest part usually isn’t deciding what fits. It’s deciding what to do with a lifetime of belongings.

Rushing the process can make an already emotional transition even harder. This week’s Understanding Senior Living blog shares a practical way to start small, including a simple 3-box approach that keeps your parent involved in what stays and what they’re ready to let go.

At Morning Pointe Senior Living, we know downsizing is often part of a much bigger conversation about what comes next. Starting before a move becomes urgent can give families more time to make those decisions together.

🇺🇸 This Labor Day, we celebrate the people behind the work.

Labor Day honors the contributions of American workers, and at Morning Pointe Senior Living, it’s an opportunity to recognize the many associates who bring our communities to life each day.

Across our assisted living and memory care communities, it takes people with different talents, responsibilities, and hearts for serving others to create places where residents can feel supported, connected, and at home.

Today, we’re grateful for every Morning Pointe associate and the role each plays in making our communities vibrant places to live, work, visit, and belong. 💙

Happy Labor Day from Morning Pointe Senior Living! 🇺🇸

📱 Keeping up with technology can get complicated at any age.

For older adults, changing smartphones, streaming services and unfamiliar settings can sometimes make everyday devices harder to navigate than they need to be.

This week’s Understanding Senior Living blog shares practical ways families can simplify technology for an older loved one, along with tips for using voice assistants and AI and recognizing potential scams.

At Morning Pointe Senior Living, we see how the right technology can help older adults stay connected and make everyday tasks a little easier.

🏈 Football season is back, and we’re ready for it!

There’s something about game day that people look forward to all week. It's about wearing your team colors, gathering around the TV, enjoying game-day snacks, and cheering right alongside fellow fans.

For many of our residents, football season also brings back memories of watching the game with their children and grandchildren, making traditions that still mean so much today.

We’re looking forward to another season of watch parties, football-themed fun, and lots of cheering across our communities. Who are you rooting for this year?

The Lexington Opera House stage belonged to some remarkable senior performers for one unforgettable night. 🌟

The 7th Annual Morning Pointe Foundation Seniors Got Talent Lexington brought 12 performers age 60+ from across Kentucky together before a sold-out audience, each stepping on stage with a talent they were ready to share.

Congratulations to this year’s winners:

🥇 1st Place AND People’s Choice: Jerry Newby, 73-year-old singer
🥈 2nd Place: Glitter Bugs, dance troupe, ages 67–90
🥉 3rd Place: Joannie Penner, 73-year-old opera singer

The celebration also included the Morning Pointe Resident Art Show, recognizing Overall Winner painter Brenda Frederick, 84, of The Lantern at Morning Pointe, Danville - Memory Care, and People’s Choice winner painter Patricia Chipps, 95, of Morning Pointe of Danville Assisted Living.

And what happened in the theater will reach much further. More than $36,000 was raised to support the Morning Pointe Foundation’s scholarships for Kentucky students pursuing careers in nursing, culinary arts, social work and therapy, as well as free caregiver education for families.

For the seniors who stepped into the spotlight, it was a chance to show an audience what they can still do. For the students who will receive Foundation scholarships, that same night is helping open doors to careers caring for others.

🎥 Hear from our hosts and judges, meet the top three winners and look back at a night that celebrated senior talent while investing in the next generation.
