Boom Cards💥 Sometimes I use boom cards because my clients LOVE the ding sound 🛎️🙈 but in all seriousness… using the most simple therapy tools can be the most effective! And it’s a win when you find a great free one! 🙌🏼 don’t underestimate a Boom Card! ✨

I don’t know about you, but with summer coming, I am pulling out all of my favorite toys that are easy to use! Here I include the different ways you can use this toy to promote language and following directions…with examples!

If I had to rebuild my toy collection… I’d definitely buy these again! 💖

The “build your own” ocean and garden sets from Amazon are some of my favorites. 🐠🌻

They’re hands-on, super engaging, and give so many natural opportunities for language. We can work on requesting, describing, categories, colors, and even simple directions while playing.

I love toys that don’t feel like “work” but still give us so much to target. ✨

Speech therapy doesn’t have to be one-on-one. One of my favorite things is getting siblings involved! 🩷

We’re all watching together, each with our own device, and working on finding the words from the story. 🐛

I love using this video in session because it gives us so many natural chances to model and explore vocabulary.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. It can look like this! 💚✨

If your child loves singing more than talking… that matters! 🎶

Some kids learn language in chunks (not single words). This is called Gestalt Language Processing, and music is often where it starts.

If they’re repeating songs or lines over and over—that’s not something to stop. That’s something we can build from. 🩷✨

We can take what they already know and help turn it into meaningful communication over time!

If I had to rebuild my toy collection… these are the ones I’d buy again right away. 💛

Puzzles are always a go-to for me! Especially the ones from Target (alphabet, numbers, farm animals). They’re simple, engaging, and perfect for working on so many language goals. 🧩💚

I also love Melissa & Doug puzzles because the pieces are sturdy and easier for my kids to handle.

I use farm and zoo animal boxes all the time too. You can target colors, numbers, categories, positions… so much language in one activity. And they are finger puppets! They’re such an easy way to keep kids engaged and interacting. 🐷🦁

Using books with doesn’t have to be complicated! 🫶

This is one of my favorite ways to help kids find and use verbs on their device. I’m not focused on reading every word—I model a few key actions (go, eat, open, look), repeat them, and give the child space to explore.

It’s not about doing it perfectly, just giving them exposure and confidence! 🩷✨

I love using Melissa & Doug toys for pretend and social play. 🩺✨ Sets like this make it so much easier to work through routines! It allows for conversation about going to the doctor, but in a way that feels safe and familiar. 💛
