Spectrum Health and Human Services is a not-for-profit community based agency that helps people in their recovery process from mental illness and/or substance abuse. Since 1973, Spectrum Health and Human Services has helped people build resiliency skills and increase their ability to successfully cope with life's challenges. We assist with connecting them with other services, including, medical care, special education and legal aid. We also provide emergency services to families and youth under 18 years of age through C.A.R.E.S.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day, a global remembrance of lives lost to overdose. Spectrum Health is here with our colleagues to participate in the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) observance to 8pm. Reflect on our loved ones…and embrace hope.

Due to forecasted rain and possible thunderstorms, International Overdose Awareness Day has been moved indoors to the Northwest Buffalo Community Center, located at 155 Lawn Ave., Buffalo, NY 14207.

The event will still take place on Monday, August 31, 2026. Organizations will be available from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by the remembrance event from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Community safety is our number one priority, and we look forward to gathering together indoors to honor and remember loved ones taken by the overdose epidemic.
Every overdose is somebody’s somebody.

Thank you to the providers, The Kensingtons, Horizon Martial Arts, the team at Spectrum Health who pitched in, and everyone who attended the 6th annual Not One More: Stand Together to End Overdose community event on Wednesday. Together we remembered loved ones lost, celebrated recovery, and built community around wellness and recovery.
