In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week™ to celebrate EMS professionals and the critical work they do in communities nationwide. National Emergency Medical Services Week is about honoring the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's frontline. 🚑⚕️🚨
National EMS Week 2026 is presented by the American College of Emergency Physicians - ACEP in partnership with the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT).
To celebrate the observance, Fox 13's The PLACE host, Jenny Hardman, got a tour of Gold Cross Ambulance's fleet facility in Salt Lake City with the company president and Kelsie Green, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at St. Mark's Hospital. Green was an ER nurse for 17 years. EMS services and all MountainStar Healthcare hospitals work hand-in-hand to treat emergent patients across Utah from Logan to Payson.

"EMS professionals are often the first point of care during some of the most critical moments in a patient’s life," Green said. "Our EMS are our partners. I’ve always thought of them as an extension of our care team."
Happy EMS Week, all! ❤️
