That's the heart of Safe Code (Social Coded), our Product Design, Coding, & AI Tools Workshop. For many of our diverse learners, including those with ADHD and autism, AI tools can feel like a superpower: a way to brainstorm when ideas feel stuck, organize a big project into small steps, draft and refine designs, and turn "I don't know where to start" into "look what I made."

In our workshop, learners don't just use AI. They learn to direct it, question it, and make it work for how their minds work best. That's technical autonomy in action, and it's a skill that carries into school, work, and everyday life. 💙💛

Guided by Evan Wilson, cofounder of Scaffold Ed and former Product Lead, Safe Code is all about making technology fun, accessible, and empowering for everyone, and building an inclusive tech future together.

The strongest independence skills aren’t learned only on worksheets. They’re practiced in real places. 💙💛

Through Community Participation Support (CPS) and Skill Building, individuals lead the way by:

✨ Choosing their own regulation tool before an outing
✨ Using a grounding strategy while navigating a museum or public space
✨ Cooking a real meal
✨ Exploring real job leads and community opportunities

Staff support, not steer, by offering two choices, previewing transitions, and documenting what the person chose and practiced. This person-centered approach reflects ODP’s Everyday Lives principles: choice, self-determination, autonomy, and independence.

Services are available in Montgomery, Philadelphia, Delaware, Bucks, Chester, and the Lehigh Valley through the Community Living, Consolidated, PFDS, and Adult Autism/AAW waivers.

Some of the best workplace preparation happens before the workplace. 💻✨

In Safe Code (Social Coded), peer mentoring is part of the hidden curriculum of work. Learners partner on product design, coding, and AI-tool projects; explain their thinking; share friendly design and code reviews; practice respectful feedback; and take turns leading.

Why does it matter? Explaining your work to someone else is a transferable workplace skill. Practicing with peers can build communication, confidence, and self-advocacy in a supportive, low-pressure space.

Inclusive teams grow through knowledge-sharing and peer support. Safe Code learners practice collaborating, asking questions, and lifting others up.

Rooted in person-centered learning, Safe Code supports independence and the Everyday Lives goal of full community participation. 🌟

This 12-week hybrid Product Design, Coding & AI Tools Workshop is led by Evan Wilson, cofounder of Scaffold Ed. Launched in May 2026 in Fort Washington, PA, enrollment is open with a $50 registration fee.

Respite is a planned break for parents and caregivers while their loved one spends time with a trusted DSP doing activities they enjoy and building meaningful connection, not simply being supervised.

Caregiver burnout is real, and rest matters at every age and stage. Respite can flex around each family’s needs, with choice, inclusion, and family partnership at the heart of support, just as the Everyday Lives principles call for.

What makes a bug “Fix first”? It’s not just spotting what’s broken. It’s explaining who it affects, how often it happens, and how serious it is. 🐛💡

In the Safe Code (Social Coded) Product Design, Coding & AI Tools Workshop, neurodivergent learners practice this real-world tech skill with Evan Wilson, cofounder of Scaffold Ed. Together, they use a simple priority scale (Blocker, Major, Minor) to share what matters and decide as a team what to fix first.

Pattern recognition and attention to detail are strengths that help learners spot important issues. And communicating their impact? That’s part of the hidden curriculum of tech workplaces, and a skill worth building.
