Meet Faheem Sultan—a Black Men Heal client who made the decision that he was tired of carrying everything alone.

After his mother introduced him to Black Men Heal, Faheem was excited to begin therapy and find a space where he could be surrounded by other Black men with shared experiences and receive care from clinicians of color.

For years, he held so much inside. In this feature, Faheem speaks openly about finally choosing to confront his pain, turn his trauma into triumph, and begin his healing journey.

His story represents exactly why this work matters. Black men deserve spaces where they feel seen, understood, supported, and safe enough to put down what they’ve been carrying. 🖤

We appreciate Faheem for his vulnerability and courage to share his journey so another man may feel empowered to start his own.

His story is part of our upcoming documentary with award-winning filmmaker Kaloni Davis.

You don’t have to carry it all by yourself. Healing can start today.

We’re grateful to PHL17 for helping shine a light on our Beyond the Game: One Yard Closer to Healing campaign. 🏈💚

At Black Men Heal, we know that too many men of color continue to face barriers to accessing mental health care—from cost and stigma to finding providers who understand their lived experiences.

This campaign is about changing that.

Through powerful stories from former professional athletes, community leaders, and men who have experienced their own mental health journeys, we’re reminding our communities that strength isn’t just about what you can carry—it’s also about having the courage to heal.

Our goal is to raise $150,000 to help provide free, culturally responsive therapy and mental health resources for men of color.

Every conversation moves us forward. Every story helps break the stigma. And every contribution brings another man one yard closer to healing.

Thank you to PHL17 for giving this mission a platform.

INSIDE THE HEALING ROOM 🖤🏈

What happens when the game ends, the applause stops, and you’re left to answer the question: Who am I beyond the title?

This past Thursday, we gathered at Plant & People in Philadelphia for Inside the Healing Room: Black Men, Identity & Life After the Game—an evening of honest conversation, vulnerability, healing, and community.

Former NFL players Desmond Wynn, Tim Massaquoi, Nydair Rouse, and Brandon Shippen opened up about identity, transition, mental health, and navigating life beyond football. Their stories reminded us that even reaching the highest levels of success doesn’t make you immune to struggle—and that there is strength in doing the work to rediscover who you are beyond what you do.

Special thank you to Nicole Glass, Founder of Affirmations for Black Men, and Tasnim Sulaiman, LPC, Founder & CEO of Black Men Heal, for moderating and creating space for a powerful and necessary conversation.

Most importantly, thank you to every Black man who entered the room ready to listen, connect, ask questions, and heal. 👑

The game may end. The title may change. But your identity, purpose, and healing journey continue.

This is what it looks like when Black men have spaces where they can show up as their full selves. 🖤

Meet Gabriel Anthony Muhammed—a Black man committed to healing, growth, and living in his authentic truth.

In this feature, Gabriel shares how essential therapy has been in his own journey and the gratitude he has for finding the right therapeutic support. Through doing the work, he’s experienced firsthand what can happen when Black men give themselves permission to heal, open up, and grow.

Now, he hopes his example can encourage other Black men to seek the healing they deserve and understand that growth is possible when we dedicate ourselves to the process and have the courage to live authentically. 🖤

We’re grateful for Gabriel’s vulnerability and willingness to use his story to help another brother take that first step.

His story is part of our upcoming documentary with award-winning filmmaker Kaloni Davis, highlighting the real healing journeys of Black men.

Meet Nydair Rouse—former NFL player whose journey after football forced him to confront a powerful question: “Who am I without the game?”

In this feature, Nydair opens up about the identity struggles he experienced after stepping away from football and how therapy helped him become more comfortable expressing what he was truly feeling.

Through healing, he also learned an important lesson: who you are at your core doesn’t have to be defined by what you do—or by what others think of you.

We appreciate Nydair’s vulnerability and willingness to share a journey that so many men experience when a career, title, or role they’ve built their identity around comes to an end.

His story is part of our upcoming documentary with award-winning filmmaker Kaloni Davis, highlighting the real healing journeys of Black men.

🖤 You are more than your title. More than your career. More than the expectations placed on you.

Meet Justin Little—TEDx Speaker, certified in Psychological First Aid through John Hopkins, and Black Men Heal’s Head of Social Media & Content.

For Justin, this work is personal. In this feature, he opens up about his own mental health journey—including battles with depression, suicidal ideation and attempts—and how finding therapy became a critical part of his healing and recovery.

Today, Justin has the unique opportunity to use both his story and his gifts to help amplify the mission of Black Men Heal. From behind the scenes, he has a front-row seat to the work being done to create real solutions, safe spaces, and access to care for Black men in our communities.

We’re grateful for Justin’s vulnerability, his perseverance, and his commitment to helping other Black men know that healing is possible.

His story is part of our upcoming documentary with award-winning filmmaker Kaloni Davis.

📚💪🏾 DOPE DADS are showing up for Back 2 School!

It takes a village—and the men in our children’s lives are an important part of that village. Whether you’re a Dad, Granddad, Stepdad, Uncle, Older Brother, Godfather, Foster Dad, Mentor, or another positive male figure, this is an opportunity to show our young people that we’re present, invested, and cheering them on.

Join CocoLife.black and community partners for the DOPE DADS: Celebrating Back 2 School campaign:

📸 8/24 — Walk With Us
🤝🏾 8/26 — Meet A Teacher
💬 8/28 — Share A Word of Encouragement

Showing up matters. Our kids remember who walked beside them, who encouraged them, and who reminded them that they were capable.

Black Men Heal is proud to amplify opportunities that encourage healthy fatherhood, mentorship, community connection, and positive Black male presence. 👑

Every step counts. Every voice matters. Let’s show up for our kids! 💙📚
