Jefferson is pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative contract agreement with the union representing our nurses at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital. This agreement reflects a thoughtful and collaborative approach, balancing the financial realities facing healthcare organizations today with our ongoing commitment to invest in the communities we serve and to support the dedicated professionals who deliver exceptional patient care every day.

We look forward to continuing to work together in support of our shared mission to deliver high-quality, compassionate care for patients and families across the Philadelphia region.

Bethany Shuler refused to stop doing what she loves. ❤️

After a stroke limited the use of her dominant hand, Bethany spent nearly a year in traditional rehab, making progress, but hitting a plateau. Then she tried something new: implantable vagus nerve stimulation paired with intensive occupational therapy. Within weeks, she was feeding herself again. Proof that recovery doesn’t always stop where we once thought it did.

Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital and PASNAP continue to engage in active, collective bargaining discussions. We have made progress and our teams remain focused on working collaboratively to reach a fair and responsible contract.

Our latest proposal for PASNAP’s consideration, delivered yesterday morning, addresses key priorities identified by the union to finalizing an agreement including wages and benefits. Jefferson has been highly responsive throughout the process, participating in collective bargaining sessions for months, and we are confident and hopeful that we will be able to bring negotiations to a close and establish an agreement on a new contract.

Agreeing on a new contract will enable us to continue serving our patients and the community without the disruption a potential strike will cause. Learn more about Jefferson’s commitment to the bargaining process and to our nurses: www.jeffersonhealth.org/einsteinnurses

Should we be unable to come together around the current proposal, we are committed to providing colleagues with timely, accurate information so they understand how operational decisions made by the union may affect their work schedules, pay, and benefits. In the event of a work stoppage, there may be impacts to pay and benefits, including health coverage eligibility, consistent with plan terms and applicable law. We encourage all employees to carefully review available information and resources so they can make informed decisions.

To ensure that we continue to provide safe, quality care to our patients Jefferson will continue to make staffing and operational decisions based on patient care needs, safety considerations, and regulatory requirements.

As a safety-net provider, Jefferson is deeply committed to meeting the evolving healthcare needs of our communities. We will continue working in good faith toward an agreement that supports our workforce while ensuring we can deliver safe, high-quality care for all who depend on us.

As World Cup matches heat up across the U.S., so do the risks. Dr. Kathleen Faccio, an emergency medicine physician at Jefferson Health - Abington who is collaborating with FIFA’s medical team at Philadelphia’s World Cup matches, saw a slight increase in heat-related complaints among fans being treated at medical facilities in the stadium.

If you’re attending a match, watch party, or tailgate:
• Stay hydrated
• Take breaks in shaded or cool areas
• Know the signs such as headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue

With the World Cup now in full swing, millions of fans are descending on stadiums and thousands of workers are facilitating the games, and many doctors warn that the risks of extreme heat extend far beyond the action on the field – especially at certain venues.
