Greetings to all Veterans, staff, and community partners

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming VISN 21 Community Mental Health Summit – a virtual learning event taking place on Thursday, August 27th from 1:00 – 3:45 PM. This open to VA providers, non-VA providers, community partners, Veterans, caregivers, and family members. Please note that CEUs are available.

This year’s summit is titled “Lessons from Lived Experience: Recovery Oriented Inpatient Mental Health Care” and will include content from mental health providers, as well as Veterans and family members with lived experience of recovery. Presenters will discuss their experience of providing, receiving, or supporting loved ones through inpatient care. Audience members will receive information about how lived experience can inform care planning, strengthen stakeholder partnerships, and reduce stigma.

Fire Evacuation Centers:
Two evacuation centers are currently operating for those affected by the fire. Residents displaced by the blaze can seek assistance at the Evelyn Mount Community Center (1301 Valley Rd, Reno, NV 89512), where Washoe County Human Services and the American Red Cross Nevada are providing support. Livestock can be evacuated to the Reno-Sparks Livestock Event Center (enter through Gate #2, located at 1350 N. Wells Avenue).

If you need free public sheltering or assistance from the American Red Cross, check operations at regional posts or call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767)

Tribal Evacuation Center: Evacuation center for Hungry Valley Residents only: Reno Gym, 34 Reservation Road, Reno. People in Hungry Valley who need transportation, medical, mobility or other evacuation assistance can call (775)842-2902 or (775)-895-9835.
