Your tight lower back isn’t the problem. It’s the alarm.

When your low back flares up, those muscles clamp down for a reason—your brain is bracing to protect the area. So you stretch, foam roll, cup, and it feels great for an hour… then the tightness creeps right back.

That’s because you’re treating the symptom, not the signal.

The muscles stay tight because your brain doesn’t feel safe letting them relax. Until you address why it’s guarding—usually through breathing and building real stability—the protective pattern stays on repeat.

The fix isn’t more stretching. It’s teaching your system it’s okay to relax.

That’s how you stop chasing relief and actually get your back to calm down for good.

One of the most frustrating things about back pain is that it keeps coming back.

You feel better, you get back to normal, and a few months later you’re right where you started. That cycle usually isn’t bad luck, it’s that the care you got addressed the pain but never addressed why it showed up.

Getting care that fits what your body actually needs is what changes that. We assess your joints, your muscles, and how you move and then build a plan around what we find.

If you’ve been stuck in that cycle, let’s get you moving better and keep you there.

“Your scan looks terrible.”

If you’ve heard that, this one’s for you.

Disc bulges, degeneration, and arthritis show up all the time in people who have zero back pain. Researchers have scanned thousands of pain-free backs and found the same scary stuff we love to blame for pain. A lot of the time it’s just normal aging. Gray hair on the inside.

So if the picture doesn’t tell the whole story, what does? It comes down to how you move, how much you’re asking your body to do versus what it’s actually ready for, plus things like sleep, stress, and whether you trust your back or fear it.

That’s the part a scan can’t show you, and it’s the part we actually work on. We don’t treat your MRI, we treat you.

Your spine is strong, adaptable, and built to move. Hurt doesn’t mean harm, and you’re not fragile.

If you’re dealing with back pain that won’t quit, we’ll put a plan together to get your life back.

It’s been hot out this week! Sweating more than usual this week means you are losing sodium, potassium, and magnesium along with that water. Cramping, early fatigue, and brain fog are often signs your electrolytes are running low, not just your hydration. We carry LMNT and Re-Lyte in the office, both with no sugar and clean ingredients. Grab a few packets at your next visit and feel the difference on a hot day.

Great sitting down with Coach Alan May of Athlete Driven Mindset this week. I enjoyed learning how they are helping athletes with their mental performance and mindset. The mind is such a forgotten piece of sports performance and also injury recovery.

If you’re an athlete working through an injury or trying to level up your game, the mental side deserves as much attention as the physical!
