During Safe Sleep and SIDS Awareness Month, we’re reminding parents, grandparents, babysitters, family members and all caregivers to follow safe sleep practices every time an infant is put down to sleep, whether it’s bedtime or naptime.

When she's with her patients, Dr. Benson wants to understand who they are, what matters most to them, and how she can best support them. Through active listening and personalized, evidence-based care, she strives to help every patient feel heard, informed, and supported. 🩺

Dr. Simpson provides comprehensive women's health care, including prenatal and obstetric care, contraception counseling, menopause care, evaluation and treatment of menstrual disorders, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and preventive care such as cervical and breast cancer screenings.

She's thrilled to be returning to her home state to care for the people and communities that shaped her. Dr. Simpson considers it an honor to support patients through every stage of life with compassionate, personalized care. She's committed to creating a welcoming environment where each person feels heard, informed, and empowered.

To help protect our patients, visitors, and team members, we are asking anyone who may have symptoms of measles or who believes they have been exposed to measles to call ahead for further instruction before visiting any Rochester Regional Health facility.

If you have the following:

🤒 A fever

AND at least one or more of these symptoms:

🔴 Rash
😷 Cough
👁️ Red or watery eyes

OR you believe you have been exposed to measles, please call your provider's office or the healthcare facility you plan to visit BEFORE arriving.

🚫 Do NOT enter the facility until you have spoken with a team member.

Calling ahead allows our staff to provide instructions and take appropriate precautions to help reduce the risk of exposure and keep everyone safe.

😷 If you require urgent or emergency care and cannot call ahead, wear a mask upon arrival and notify staff immediately of your symptoms or possible measles exposure.

A Celebration 70 Years in the Making 🎉

Yesterday, we celebrated the 70th anniversary of our Portland Avenue campus, honoring the day we first opened our doors at this location on September 16, 1956.

As part of the celebration, September 16 was officially proclaimed "Rochester General Hospital Day" by both the City of Rochester and Monroe County, commemorating this important milestone in our history.

While this campus has been a cornerstone of healthcare in our community for 70 years, the Rochester General Hospital legacy stretches back more than 170 years. The opening of the Portland Avenue campus marked a transformative moment for our hospital and our region, creating the foundation for generations of compassionate, innovative care.

We were honored to celebrate alongside community and government leaders, including Monroe County Executive Adam J. Bello, Mayor Malik Evans, Assemblymember Harry Bronson, and Assemblyman Josh Jensen. Thank you for helping us recognize this milestone and the impact Rochester General Hospital continues to have throughout our region.

Most importantly, thank you to the generations of team members, volunteers, leaders, patients, and community members who have been part of this journey. Because of you, Rochester General Hospital continues to evolve, innovate, and meet the changing needs of our community.
