From excruciating neck pain to over 90% improvement—Shelly’s story is exactly why we invested in cervical decompression and laser therapy.

When Shelly first came to see us at Rapids Chiropractic, she was experiencing excruciating neck pain that was making everyday life difficult. Even simple activities had become a challenge, and she was searching for answers and relief.

Shelly came to our office with severe right-sided low back pain that radiated into her groin and thighs. Her MRI showed a right L3-L4 disc herniation affecting the exiting L3 nerve root.

At her initial evaluation, her pain was rated 7/10, and everyday movements were becoming increasingly difficult.

We’re excited to officially welcome Blair DeJong to the Rapids Chiropractic team as our new Chiropractic Tech!

Over the past several months, our spinal decompression program has been producing incredible results for so many of our patients. As more people continue to seek this specialized care for disc issues, sciatica, chronic low back pain, neck pain, and other spinal conditions, it became clear that in order to continue delivering the highest level of patient care and attention, we needed to grow our team.

Bringing Blair on allows us to better serve our decompression patients by providing more hands-on support, improved scheduling availability, and an even stronger patient experience throughout the healing process. Our patients’ care and outcomes will always remain our top priority, and expanding our team is an important part of that commitment.

A little about Blair:

Hello! My name is Blair DeJong and I’m from Little Rock, Iowa. I have been married to my husband Nathan for almost 7 years. We have 3 dogs and 3 outside cats. I enjoy traveling both in and out of the USA. In my free time, I love baking and cooking, painting, grooming dogs, front porch sitting, watching movies, putting together puzzles, and going for rides with our dogs in the side-by-side.

Reggie came in at a true 10/10 pain.

For over 2.5 years, he dealt with severe low back pain shooting down his right leg into his toes—burning, numbness, tingling. He had tried PT, medications, and injections… nothing gave lasting relief.

Millions suffer daily — here’s a simple breakdown of common spinal disc problems 👇
1. Degenerated Disc (Degenerative Disc Disease)
Discs lose water and cushioning with age. They become drier and less flexible. It’s normal wear & tear — and many people feel nothing.
2. Bulging Disc
The outer layer weakens and bulges out like a tire under pressure. The inner gel stays contained. Often mild or even symptom-free.
3. Herniated Disc (Slipped/Ruptured)
A tear allows the inner gel to leak out and irritate nearby nerves. This can lead to sciatica — sharp, shooting pain down the arm or leg, along with numbness, tingling, or weakness.
4. Thinning Disc
Disc height decreases over time, reducing stability and increasing stress on joints and nerves.
5. Disc Degeneration with Osteophytes
